Chapter 1

It's scary knowing everything you love can just vanish. It's scary living in constant fear someone might hurt you. It's scary not remembering what happened last night. It's scary to look in the mirror in the morning. A lot of things are scary.

I sit outside my apartment in the alley smoking a cigarette sort of hoping some psycho would pop up and shoot me for no reason. I groan a loud as I watch people walking by the little gap in between two buildings. I decide to walk to Taco Bell and get something to eat since I'm starving. I finish my cigarette and throw it on the ground before stepping on it. I spray myself with vanilla perfume so I don't stink like smoke. I'm wearing a normal outfit, skinny jeans an a white hoodie. My hairs down, and curled And also wearing black vans nothing to special. As I walk down the street of New York I don't really notice anything different. A boy with a camera speeds past me pushing me into another guy. I grit my teeth. "Watch it asshole." I mutter as he looks back. His blonde hair is a mess and he looks pretty tired. "Sorry, I'm just in a rush to get some food before my classes start." He says and I shrug. "Oh." I sayy not really caring as I walk into Taco Bell and the blonde follows, great. "Great minds think alike." He says winking at me. I stare at him until he feels a little awkward and bites his lip. "You can go first." He says an smiles. "Thanks." I say as I go to order my food. I wait for a little while until my foods done. I glance around until I find an open booth and go to sit down. When blondies done waiting for his food he sits across from me. I look at him for a moment before sighing. "What do you want?" I ask as I take a drink. "I just wanna be friends, I don't have a lot of friends in New York." He says and shrugs. I look at him for a moment. "Okay, let's be friends. In order to be friends though we must share our deepest darkest secrets." I say looking at him dead in the eye. He nods slowly. "Okay." He says before thinking. "I almost had sex with a transsexual." He says looking at me seriously. I cover my mouth to hold in a laugh. "Really?" I ask and he nods sadly. "That's adorable." I say before thinking. "I have sex with random guys like a player because I like feeling loved even it it isn't real love." I say and look at him. He looks at me his eyes widened. "That's so hot." He says before checking the time. "I've got to get to class, could I get your number?" He asks. "Sure." I say and put my number in his phone. "Oh by the way my names Luke." He says as he smiles. "I'm Ariana." I say pressing my lips together and smiling slightly. He smiles once before before he turns and leaves.

When I finish my food I walk out into the street and check the time. "Shit." I mumble before hurrying down the street and cutting a corner. As I enter a small cafe Belle stares at me for a second. "Love, you're late." She says in her lovely British accent. "I know I'm so sorry! I forgot I had to work today." I say as I hug her and kiss her cheek. I had been working for Belle for a year now and she's basically the mother I've never had. "Alright alright hurry up and get dressed." She says as she greets a customer. We're required to wear a blue dress with a white apron sort of like the dress Belle from beauty and the beast wear which is ironic. Except the dresses we wear are slightly shorter and a darker shade of blue. I put my hair in a messy bun and walk out smiling brightly when I see the adorable little girl that comes in every day with her mother. "Hello Rosie, the usual?" I ask her with a grin on my face. "Yes please!" She yells. Then I notice she isn't with her mother today. "Ariana this is my brother! He's babysitting!" She says and giggles. I look up and meet Luke's blue eyes. "Hello." I say sweetly before turning around and making her hot chocolate. "I've met Ariana earlier today." He says and I can feel his gaze on my back. I glance back at him and smiles. "Yes when you bumped into me then followed me into Taco Bell." I say grinning. "Y-well when you say it like that it sounds creepy." He says scratching his head. I giggle slightly before I finish her hot chocolate and grab a plate of cookies. "What would you like Luke?" I ask with a little grin. "You." He says with a wink and a smirk. "Oh baby you wish." I say when Rosie walks off to her usual table. Luke bites his lips as he stares at me. "I'll have a plate of cookies." He finally says. When I grab the cookies I can feel Luke watching me bend over and I shake my head. "Alright your total is $6.45" I say.

I finally had a break. I made myself a smoothie and went to go sit down when I noticed Rosie and Luke were still here. I smiled slightly before going over to them and sitting down. "Mind if I sit with you two for a bit?" I ask nicely. "Not at all." Luke says and takes a bite of his cookie. I smile and sip my smoothie. After talking and laughing with Rosie and Luke I felt happy for once it was the best feeling ever. "Well my breaks over I'll talk to you guys later." I say and smile. "Ya me and Rosie should be leaving now." Luke says and stands up. I nod and kneel down to hug Rosie and kiss her cheek. "Goodbye sweetie." I say before looking over at Luke but before I can say anything his arms are already around my waist. I hesitantly wrap my arms around his neck to hug him back and smile. We stay like that for a while before Rosie coughs. "Oh uh bye." I say. "Wait, can I see you tomorrow?" He asks. "Sure, call me." I say smiling slightly before kissing his cheek and wave to them as they leave. "Ariana! Breaks over!"
