It was late, the stars shown in the sky like diamonds on a black felt. There was a cool breeze and the smell of sweet smoke had drifted amongst the small group of friends who had been roasting marshmallows on the campfire while the listened to each song play over the radio. They'd throw sand at each other and chase one another into the ocean. It seemed like a perfect night.
Freya was already in her own little world listening to the crackling of the fire as the waves crashed against the shore. She had already gotten numerous numbers and hit ons as always but for some reason she just wasn't satisfied tonight. She had everyone's attention on her and yet none of it made her feel better. Freya had been invited to the small party a week ago, when she had opened the letter it had mentioned that it was a release party and they wanted a small group of people there to film a music video. Of course she couldn't turn down the opportunity to be the center of attention however she wasn't expecting it to be this hard either.
Ocean eyes sat next to her on a log of wood that they had set up around the fire to use as chairs. She could feel his gaze piercing through her mind but when she raised her eyes to meet his he wouldn't even spare her a glance. It was frustrating. She could have any person here swooning at her smile but this man wouldn't even look at her, turns out he was the one she's been wanting attention from this whole time. Freya got up and grabbed another drink as a new song began to play through the speakers and before she even realized it she was dancing amongst the other people with her smile shining bright. Niall couldn't help but glare at the other men who danced with her. Sure he'd ignored her the entire time thus far but he'd certainly wasn't seeing blind. He'd seen how her smile lit up the sky like a thousand fireflies, or how her laugh was the most beautiful melody he had ever heard. He'd seen how she danced so carelessly as if she would never fall without someone there to catch her. He'd noticed every single detail, yet he couldn't bring himself to actually look or talk to her. Instead he ended up making her the main attraction of his video, a young girl on the loose while he chased her love.
After the party had long been over everyone had left and headed home. Everyone but two people. Freya and Niall had hung back at the fire, freya still twirling and dancing while Niall just sat and watched. His eyes were dark and intense keen on watching her shadows dance over the fireside. Freya frustrated the man still hadn't even spoke to her eventually went home flashing a smile and leaving the man by the fire alone. Freya however didn't know that this wouldn't be the last encounter she had with this stranger, and Niall had been more then thrilled that she had finally left so he could relax and release just how nervous and attracted to the girl he had been. He was determined to be more than just another guy that won her smile, no he wanted to win her heart.
