A Reflection and a Prayer

We all want to be loved.

We all want world peace and happiness.

We all want to live in mansions.

But to quote the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want."

I was always told this, and I have lived by it.

My expectations have been lowered drastically and I've lived blinded and oblivious to everything else.

I never even bothered to remember that the song continues with, "But if you try sometimes, you just might find... you get what you need".

Life isn't fair. That's just a basic fact of... Well, life.

When my world is dissolving around me right before my eyes, when stress keeps me awake at night, I say a little prayer.

For that moment, no matter what I'm going through, I say this prayer to no one in particular, or even just close my eyes and think it, and nothing bothers me for that moment.

I know it might seem a little stupid or weird, but it truely adds a tiny bit of calm to my day.

It is my rock, something I can always count on when everyone else fails me.

I say it religiously every night, sometimes more than once, and then also throughout the day.

I memorized it. I've never written it down before because I have it in my mind and my heart.

Thank you, G-d, for giving us all plenty of good food, water, shelter, family and friends

I am very grateful for it all

Forgive us for all the sins we have made

Please bless us, watch over us, and have our guardian angels watch over us

Please let everyone everywhere be happy, healthy, and safe no matter who they are, what they are, or where they are

I love you, G-d, and thankyou

Amen

This is the prayer that covers everything important to me that I want to focus on.

It has helped me through the toughest of times and I hope it helps you.

Amen
