Chapter 6 - The Moments

Niall looks at Mandy, confused. "Why do you force yourself?"

"Actually I wanted to feel the real life longer. I never felt so happy before I met you guys." She said honestly.

Niall pressed his lips in a tight line, remembering the fact that Mandy's life is sadder than he could ever imagine. He could see it by the way she behaves. She hates to face the world, in his opinion. Yet, she doesn't want someone to care about her. He felt really bad.

"Mandy. God lets you like this because of a reason."

Mandy turns her head to him, raising her eyebrows.

"You know, if everyone's happy and healthy... from where would they learn how to survive their lives?" Niall said wisely. "God makes you the one who suffers and protected because He trusts you."

Mandy narrows her eyes to him, wondering with her innocent face. "He does?"

Niall nods. "Be patient, Mandy. Life isn't always white and grey."

Mandy bites her lips, slowly feeling sure. Niall's words slowly light up her spirit. She smiles and says confidently, "yea sure, Niall."

Niall smiles back, proudly. "It's late already and it's time for you to sleep." He said nicely.

Mandy sighs in disappointment and obeys forcedly. "Really." She mutters sarcastically as she turns away to close her eyes.

"So I'll sing you to sleep." He continued.

Mandy's eyes open widen and suddenly she lets out a bright smile at Niall. "Really?"

"Well I can't let you stay awake while thinking about things that hurt you. You need some rest."

Mandy looks down. "I... think so." Then she smiles back at him.

So Niall starts strumming his guitar. "Okay, what song is good as a lullaby for you? Do you know Safe & Sound?" He asks her.

Mandy rolls up her eyes to find a clue. "I think I've ever heard that song. The Hunger Games soundtrack, isn't it?"

"Yes." Niall exclaimed at her.

"It's one of my favorites." Mandy stated.

"Right then. I'll sing that for you." Niall said as he starts strumming the guitar.

He plays the intro, Mandy gives her attention to him fully.

"I remember tears streaming down your face, when I said I'll never let you go. When all those shadows almost killed your light..." He turns his head to her.

Mandy starts resting down her head and makes herself comfortable. Niall makes his voice softer and softer, gets Mandy yawning.

"... but all that's dead and gone and passed tonight...

... just close your eyes, the sun is going down.

... you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now..."

Niall stares at Mandy's weak face as she's enjoying the song. He lightly smiles at her, thinking that she really deserves this serenity in her mind.

"... just close your eyes.

... you'll be alright..."

Mandy slowly closes her eyes peacefully as her head slowly falls to her side.

"... and..."

She's finally officially sleeping.

"... sound..."

Niall stops strumming and his eyes locked on Mandy's sleeping face. He smiles at her sadly. Suddenly all about her comes into his mind and cracks his tears down. He really can't face the fact that in a couple of days he won't see her anymore.
