"Shit, shit shit." I mutter under my breath as I round the corner in front of me seeing yet another dark hallway.
"Why is the exit never easy to find?" I say as I take off down this hallway, its the 6th of its kind and there weren't this many on the way in, at least I don't think there were. You see, i'm a treasure hunter and often times this gets me into some sticky situations (especially the time I got trapped in a spider's lair but thats not important now) and this is no different. I have found myself in yet another temple thats easy to get to the solid gold stuff but getting out is harder than hell.
However this one is slightly different, I didn't come here for gold or even a paycheck, I came here because I had heard rumors of the shadow blade being housed here. I found some gold is all however and of course as soon as i touch it there's a loud noise some panels move and now I'm being chased by....something. I almost pause as I realize something, I didn't really see what's after me, just a shadow and some noise is all I saw and heard, typically its some sort of Automatons or just elaborate traps designed to trip me up.
"Fuck why am I even considering this..." I mutter as I pull my short sword out of its sheath. I skid to a stop and pivot on the ball of foot to face the way I just came from, stopping in a nearly flawless battle stance.
"This could kill me...why must I be so damn curious!" I curse myself as I slowly pace forward back towards the place I just tried very hard to escape, the gold still sitting in the bag on my back. I slowly move hallway by hallway eventually I'm one corner from the treasure room again.
"Where is...whatever it is? I swear it was right behind me until I turned around..." I say to myself looking ahead cautiously. As I move forward and round the corner to the treasure room I see only darkness.
"What the fuck!?" I shout into the now empty void of space where the room was not ten minutes ago.
"Where the hell did the room go!?" I take a step back, the darkness seems almost like it's pulling at me, drawing me into the void. I try to shake it off but it's almost like I want to lose myself in the darkness.
"What even is this?" I say as I unconsciously take a step forward and relax my muscles. I feel like I'm lost but i'm not afraid, no i'm relaxed and calm. It's almost as though I can smell the shadows now, like a crisp sulfur, which would ordinarily be one of displeasure but here, its almost more alluring. I gasp as the floor falls from under me.
I'm falling into the shadows.
