"Do re me fa so fucking bored." Elga sang whilst hanging upside down off the couch.

"Elga, you just moved out last week sweetheart. Give it a chance." the voice on the other end of the phone tried to reason with her.

"I know mom, it's just hard not seeing you every day. You get so used to having a person around then after you leave you to start to miss them, ya know?" Elga admitted sheepishly.

"You still have Pax with you. He's an amazing cat, even after that spell mishap that gave him six legs and that cute little gem on his head." her mother mumbled.

"Mom, Pax is amazing there's no denying that. I'm still coming over today after work though." she chuckled.

"I can't wait, Ellie! I have a new spell that I conjured up just for you." her mother's smile could be heard from the other end of the phone.

"Please don't tell me it's another love attraction spell." Elga facepalmed.

There had been many attempts to get her a love life as of late. And she was frankly over it, all the dates had been horrible. And one man had the audacity to tell her she'd look prettier if she'd lose more weight. Elga being actually quite fit, jabbed him gracefully in the stomach, paid for her meal, and as she was about to leave she turned around and told him: "No girl nor woman, should ever hear those words leave a man's mouth. And if you didn't get the message, I work out every day and take care of my body. I am not a doll, and I will never let anyone try to reshape me like plastic. So fuck off, because I'm happy with who I am."

And that was that. Needless to say, dating had never been her strong suit.

"It's not, I promise." her mother replied quickly.

"Okay, I'll be over in a bit. Love you Momster."

"Love you too, Ellie." and then they hung up...

"Love you too, Ellie."

"Love you too, Ellie"

Elga kept replaying the call over and over, the last time she had heard her mother's voice before the accident. It had been almost three months since her mother was murdered. After visiting her that day, Elga went home. Her mother realized she had forgotten to close the potion shop and was attacked by men with samurai masks. At least that's what the lone witness, a young kitsune named List. Who had been hiding in the attic of his home at the time of the ambush. The shisubeki police officers couldn't find any clues leading to the culprits.

Not even the witch elders could find anything. They were all at a loss, and eventually, after a month stopped looking for anything.

Elga eventually moved back into her childhood home and took over the shop. And it had been truly difficult to move on. But she knew she had to. And on bad days like this, she would replay that one, last call.
