NIALL'S POV
I opened the door to my room and slowly made my way downstairs, to the living room where my family was.
I had been in Uni for a year and six months in London and I took a week to come back to Ireland and tell them because with each passing moment, I felt more and more guilty that I hid such a big part of my life from my family.
Before I started Uni, I had convinced myself that I would tell them after I graduated and if only I knew what awaited me, I would have stuck to that.
I took a deep breath and made my presence known to them all. I was gonna leave for London again in three hours so I had timed this very sufficiently.
If didn't go well, I would leave and go back to school and maybe when I would come back for Christmas, everything would have died down.
"Oh there you are Niall. If we don't leave now, you might miss your flight. The security checkpoints take time." My dad smiled at me.
"Are you okay, Niall?" My mum asked when I had kept quiet and fixed my gaze to the floor.
I shook my head and looked up to find all of them looking at me with worried faces.
Greg had a sleeping baby in his arms but he too had a worried look.
"I have something to tell you." I said quietly and they all perched up so I continued.
I said the two little words that changed my life for ever.
"I'm gay."
It was silent, the silence felt like it lasted for a decade because I waiting for them to say something.
But none of them did and when I took a step to walk outside, they all sprewed questions in my direction.
"Since when?"
"Don't joke like that."
"It's not funny."
"That's a lie, you can't be a fag."
The last statement hit me hard. I didn't know who exactly said it but I knew that it was one of the three people I cared so much about.
My family.
And that hurt me like a bitch.
"You do realise that it's not funny, right?" My dad asked with raised eyebrows.
Did they think I would joke about something like that? I had lived with this for my whole life and struggled to get here.
"Please Niall take it back. You can't be...gay." Mum spoke next, she spat the word as if it would burn her tongue.
"Ni? It's not true right?" Greg looked at me with pleading eyes.
I looked at each of their faces and they looked as expectant as they did before I had told them.
"It's true I'm not joking. I realized it when I was fourteen and ever since I've wanted to tell you but I didn't have enough courage I th-" I was cut off by a loud voice.
"Shut up! Don't stand in my house and speak such nonsense. No son of mine will be a disgusting fag and drag the family name in the mud!" Dad bellowed and that instantly woke up Theo.
"So you better change your stupid sexuality or else we have to cut you off." Mum added and I looked at her in horror.
Tears pricked my eyes but my anger took over.
"I didn't choose to be like this. I have tried to ignore it but I can't because this is who I am and if you are not willing to accep-" A sharp pain cut me off and it took a few seconds for realisation to dawn on me that I had been slapped by my dad.
Never in my twenty years of existence had he raised a hand against me, until now.
I finally let the tears fall.
I was crying for a lot of things and the slap was just fuel to the fire.
In my peripheral vision, I saw Theo scramble from Greg's lap and wobble towards me.
I let out a loud sob when Greg spoke up."Theo don't go near him. He's no longer your uncle."
I looked at mum and she pointed to the door that my dad had already gone through.
I didn't know what to do but I sure didn't want to be in this house now so I walked out and found my dad instructing our family driver to take me to the airport.
Then he turned to me.
"We are no longer related, and I'm cutting off the finances because you will not bring down everything I worked so hard for just with your gayness." He said and I looked at him with a blank expression.
"We'll send all your stuff soon." He spat and marched back inside the house.
My mum closed the doors and instead of crying, I went to the car and got in the back.
We got to the airport and the driver helped me with my luggage then he left.
An hour later, I was sat on a plane going back to school.
Leaving my life and part of my heart in Ireland.

"Niall you can't just throw away your life. Look on the bright side of things." Zayn, my room mate tried to coax me but I just rolled my eyes.
"In less than a month, I'll be chased out of school because I can't pay so why should I even bother? I'm not like you who has a huge paying job." I said carelessly as he sat down next to me on my bed in our dorm.
He stayed quiet for the longest time but then he took a deep breath and cleared his throat.
"I never thought I would've to bring it up but I'll do anything to bring you out of this... I'm an exotic dancer, thats what I do to pay for my studies." Zayn looked down shamefully and I snapped my head up so fast.
"What!?" I almost yelled.
So in the next hour, Zayn told me everything and how they are hiring if I was interested.
It's a night job meaning I would have to move my classes so that I could be starting around 10am. In order to get a few hours of sleep.
I thought about it for a while before making a decision.
"I'm in."

There you go my sweet creatures.
I'm trying a new route in writing this story, I hope it turns out well.
It's not a very long story and the chapters are gonna be shorter than my usual ones. Well because shorter chapters mean frequent updates right? Right.
Anyway thoughts?
Spread the love❤
