2 | finding a friend in you

As we walked off to biology I was trying to make a friend out of Brodan.

"So what sports do you play?" I asked him.

"Well I am the quarterback for the football team and I am captain on the boys' volleyball team. We play against the girls when their tryouts are over next week. How about you?"

"I love volleyball! at my old school I was captain and led my team to victory by crushing the ball down in the other teams' faces."

He laughed and stepped in the classroom.

He walked up to the teacher's desk.

"Hello Mrs. Panske. I am Brodan and this is the new girl, Aslynn." He spoke gently to him.

"Why hello there and what a beautiful name Aslynn."

"Thank you." I smiled.

"Lets have you guys sit together over there with Kyle and Jake."

Brodan went over and sat will some people he knew. I scurried over to him smiling at the boys sitting with us.

"Hi I'm Aslynn." I spoke I them the said hey and went back to their papers.

Brodan leaned over and put his lips to my ear and whispered, "They are the geeky jocks. they play football and sit with us at lunch but they don't speak much they are either working on a science project or designing the next future car. No need to worry we won't have too much when it comes to projects because if its not perfectly accurate its not A+ worthy."

I smiled and Mrs. Panske started explaining what we do in this class.

Skip to lunch.

I didn't know where to sit. I stood looking around. and found hardly any empty seats with welcoming people. I saw some food fight starters that were throwing food at each other.

I saw the geeks that wished they were athletes. they were throwing food in each others mouths at the right angle of aim.

I saw the athletic girls. they were just eating and planning there next play.

I saw the lovers who sat on each others laps and shared food by holding I in their teeth as the other on bite into it and then they would kiss.

I saw the cheerleaders. they were on stage huddled up then they broke out into some random cheer.

Swallow it! swallow it! that's the way we swallow it!

I found them really annoying for some reason and they didn't stop either. I looked around and saw nobody was watching them so I went back to looking for a seat. I felt an arm around my shoulder. I jumped inside because I didn't want that person to think I was scared of them.

"Come on," Brodan said pulling me to the direction of the football table. "you have been standing there for five minutes." as he sat down and patted the seat ext to him the room went silent and everyone turned my way. I slowly sat down. everyone gasped.

"Okay everyone you can go about you own business." he laughed as he turned to me. I laughed with him. The lunch room was loud again and he introduced me to all the football players and their positions.

they al talked to me except for Kyle and Jake.

"Where are you from?" Coby asked.

"Arizona. but for a long time I thought I was born in Russia because that's what my parents told me when I was five."

They laughed.

"Your a big hit." Brodan whispered in my ear. he pecked my cheek, i blushed and then whispered in my ear again. "I did that to protect you because they are all nasty jerks when it comes to dating. And I'm your new best friend."
