Kelly parked his car just outside my dad's apartment. He would wait, just to see if my dad would try to start an argument, and if he did, then, he would take me back to his and, if he didn't, I'd just text him to say so.
Briskly walking up the several flights of stairs, as to avoid making myself any later, meant also having to be silent as the stairwells led directly to apartments. I fiddled to find my key and I opened the door, only to be greeted by my dad.
"Where the hell have you been? It's fucking ten o'clock! I told you to be home early." He yelled, probably waking the neighbours.
"And I told you I'm not your property." I yelled back, slamming the door behind me as I ran down the stairs I had gone up just moments before. It had started to rain and I dashed for Kelly's car.
There were tears in my eyes and, when Kelly saw me, he hugged me tightly. His freshly-shaven face rested against my forehead for a moment before he kissed my temple and drove off.
"Don't let your dad put out your fire." He stated, bluntly. I looked over at the older man with tired eyes. "I mean it. There is a fire inside you and you dad is trying to put it out. Don't let him." He places his left hand on my leg. "You are beautiful and strong and I love you, so much." He smiled.
His apartment had begun to feel like home to me. I immediately went up to Kelly's room and flopped down on the bed in frustration, sadness and sleep deprivation; I only bothered to take my shoes off as I came in the front door. I heard the bedroom door open but I didn't look up. There was a gentle kiss on my head and he had stripped my skirt and shirt off and replaced them with one of his big t-shirts.
"I love you." I groaned with tiredness, my eyes still shut. He held me closely, as he always did, with his arms around my waist, holding me against him, our legs entangled and his lips against my temples, us only separated by sleep.
There was no sharp alarm on the Sunday morning meaning we could sleep until our bodies naturally woke up. The body beside me was familiar and safe and I wanted to cuddle into it more but I also wanted to see Kelly's stunning eyes and hear his groggy morning voice.
"Good morning, baby." He whispered, knowing I wasn't asleep. I turned around and he kissed my nose, hugging me tighter than he already was.
"I like that you don't work Sundays." My voice was groggy as it was early morning but he could tell what I was saying.
"We have the whole day together- apart from your dance class." It was cute he remembered. He planted a gentle kiss on my cheek as he turned to face me. "I love you." He smiled.
"I love you too, baby." I replied, taking hold of his bigger hand in my own. It was a comfortable silence, with only our breathing disturbing it, and both our hearts beating in sync in our chests.
"Honey, do you want to do something today? Like go out on, I guess, like, a proper date?" He asked, unsure. I opened my eyes up fully, although they weren't half as blue as his, and smiled.
   "Of course I would." I bubbled. "Why wouldn't I?" I questioned his unsure-ness.
"It's just that," he paused for a moment and sighed, "I love you, so much and I just don't want to lose you. And I also don't want any other guys to steal you from me." He laughed, kissing me gently. "So will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.
"Yes, Kelly, of course I will." I laughed, mocking his worry. He sighed and kissed me, rolling over so he was on top of me.
"I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you." He sang, over and over.
"Honestly, I was kinda getting worried that you didn't want me." I confessed. He looked at me, puzzled. "It's just that we have been, like, 'together' for a month and you hadn't asked me so, I just- it's stupid anyway." I joked.
"Yeah, trust me," he looked at me, serious, "you can't get rid of me that easily."
