To those in Privet Drive that night, all had went to sleep, happily with their perfect families. But to those all around the world who were wizards or witches - they partied. Apart from Albus Dumbledore, who stood at Privet Drive, sadly, with Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape - waiting for Hagrid to arrive with the twins. Harry James Potter and Y/N Lily Potter.
Soon a bright light was spotted by Dumbledore, coming closer and closer. It landed and it was Hagrid on his enchanted motorbike. "No problems, I trust, Hagrid?" Dumbledore asked, as Hagrid climbed of the bike and took off his helmet.
"No, sir. Little tykes fell asleep, just as we were flying over Bristol," he replied, picking up a basket. Inside we're two babies sleeping, hand in hand - the Potter Twins."Try not to wake 'em. There ya go," Hagrid said, passing the basket over to Dumbledore. The set of teachers, who worked at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, all walked over to a single house. Mr and Mrs Dudley, were happy to say they were normal, but their whole lives would be flipped in the morning.
Albus Dumbledore, the trusted headmaster of Hogwarts, placed the basket down nicely.
"May I?" Professor Snape asked, gesturing to the twins, Dumbledore nodded and he bent down and picked up the girl. He smiled sadly at her, as tears filled the professor's eyes.
"She looks just like her," Snape smiled weakly, one single tear rolling down his cheeks."They both have her eyes, Severus," Dumbledore smiled.
"And he looks just like his father," McGonagall smiled, looking at the boy.
Snape took in a sharp breath and gently placed the girl back into the basket when straight away the grabbed each other's hand again."Can I give her a gift?" Severus Snape asked, to which Dumbledore nodded agin.
"Y/N Lily Potter, I give you the gift of being an animal royal," he said, tapping his wand gently on her forehead. A blue light came from the wand and flew into the babies hand."Albus, do you really think it's safe leaving them with these people? I've been watching them all day, they're the worst muggles imaginable. They really are!" McGonagall exclaimed, worried for the twins.
"They're the only family they have," he replied sadly."The twins will be famous, there won't be a child in our world who won't know their names," McGonagall said.
"Exactly. They're better off growing up away from all that - until they're ready," Albus answered, as Hagrid cried, sniffling quietly behind them."Now, now, Hagrid, this isn't really goodbye after all," Albus comforted, looking back at the twins, "Good luck, Harry and Y/N Potter."
***Almost 10 years later
"Up! Get up!" Aunt Petunia yelled through the door to the cupboard, where Y/N and Harry Potter were now jolted up, hitting their heads on the roof of the cupboard.
"Ow!" The twins both exclaimed, rubbing their heads.Your POV
"Morning, Harry," I smiled weakly, hugging my brother.
"Morning,Y/N," he replied, returning the hug.
"Wake up, Potters! We're going to the zoo!" Our annoying, rude, fat walrus of a cousin yelled. As he jumped on the stairs above our cupboard, making dust fall on us. I rolled my eyes as Harry went to get out of the cupboard, Dudley shut the door on him - making him hit his head and fall back."You okay?" I asked, he nodded and crawled out as I followed. We walked into the kitchen and was greeted with Aunt Petunia snapping at us to make breakfast without burning anything.
"Yes, Aunt Petunia," me and Harry both chorused. Harry began to cook the bacon and I made coffee for Uncle Vernon, as I knew he'd want it.
"Bring my coffee, girl," he yelled, as I placed his drink next to him. Instead of thanks I got a slight nod and a bit of a glare. It was spoilt Dudley's birthday and he had a pile of huge present, neatly wrapped, which were sure to be expensive.
"How many are there?" He asked, seeming ungrateful.
"36, counted them myself," Uncle Vernon replied.
"36! 36! But last year, last year I got 37," he shouted, upset.
"Be grateful you Walrus," Harry mumbled so only I could hear, making me giggle.Harry and I followed our 'family' outside to the car to go to the zoo for Dudley's birthday.
"Now I'm warning you two, any funny business, any at all - and you'll have no dinner for a week!" Vernon told us firmly and rudely, we nodded and got into the car trying to ignore the dirty look Vernon gave us.
"Also, cover up those horrible scars," Aunt Petunia told us. I used my hair to cover up the lightning bolt scar on my neck and Harry used his messy fringe to cover his matching one on his forehead. We'd had them since we were born is what Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia had told us.When we arrived at the zoo, we walked around looking at all the different animals. Dudley was usually shouting at them. I had always loved animals, it was like I had a connection with all of them. We went into the reptile house and saw a sleeping snake.
"Move!" Dudley yelled, banging on the glass.
"It's sleeping!" I shouted, glaring at him, before he walked away calling it boring."Sorry about him - he doesn't understand what it's like," I apologised to the snake.
"Lying there, day after day - having people press their ugly faces in on you," Harry continued. The snake looked up and winked at us, shocking both of us.
"Can you hear us?" We both asked, confused st what was going on. The snake moved itself up and nodded, hissing gently.
"We've never talked to a snake before," Harry said, "Do you... I mean, do you talk to people often?" I finished. The snake shook his head confirming it wasn't a coincidence and we were actually talking to a snake.
"You're from Burma, aren't you?" Harry asked.
"Was it nice there? Do you miss your family?" I asked, it looked back at us sadly and gestured its head towards a sign saying 'bred in captivity'.
"That's us as well, we never knew our parents either," Harry told the snake, making me look down a bit sadly. I had always been sensitive on the topic of our parents."Mummy! Daddy! You won't believe what this snake is doing!" Dudley yelled, pushing me into Harry and knocking us both down. We both gave him a dirty glare and like magic the glass disappeared and Dudley lost his balance and fell in. The snake slithered out of the glass cage and came towards us, "Thanksssss," it hissed and my eyes grew wide.
"Anytime," me and Harry both smiled in complete awe and shock.Dudley stood up and tried to leave the cafe but the glass had reappeared again, trapping him inside. He screamed as Aunt Petunia started to panic and cry. Uncle Vernon looked at me and Harry, who were both laughing, but when he caught us we stopped. I felt a knot of dread in my stomach as I realised we were in big trouble...
When we got out of the car back home, Uncle Vernon grabber Harry by his ear and me by my long, (h/c) hair, which had a streak of ginger in.
"Ow!" I exclaimed, as Vernon tugged my hair.
"What happened?!" He screamed, furious with both of us, even though it wasn't our fault.
"We don't know!" "One minute the glass was there and then it was gone!" "It was like magic!" Me and Harry told him, swapping sentences.
"There's no such thing as magic," Vernon snapped, throwing both of us into the cupboard like we were objects who couldn't feel as we hit the floor. He locked the door and shut the shutters leaving us in darkness.
