Your POV
Harry and I were once again woken up rudely to Aunt Petunia yelling through the door for us to wake up. We came out of our cupboard and as I went to grab mail, Harry made breakfast for the Dursley's since we weren't allowed to eat anything other than a tiny dinner for a month. I looked through the letters and to my pleasant surprise two letters were written to me and Harry.I handed out the letters to everyone and passed Harry's to him. He looked at me shocked as we sat down next to each other and was about to read them before Dudley snatched them off both of us and gave them to Uncle Vernon.
"Hey! They're ours," I snapped, as the Dursley's crowded around Uncle Vernon to see our letters.
"Ha! Would be writing to you two?" He chuckled meanly, before looking down at the half open envelope on mine and seeing my name, where we live, everything you would usually find on a letter and then also - the cupboard under the stairs. His face looked shocked that whoever wrote it knew where we slept. He turned the envelope around to see the stamp with a symbol on and he gasped along with Aunt Petunia. They didn't give us the letters back, making me really curious about why that gasped when they saw the little symbol on the wax stamp that sealed the envelope. That night I walked into the living room with Harry to see Uncle Vernon throwing things into the fire grinning. I looked closer to see mine and Harry's letters.
The next day, me and Harry woke up and this time Harry went to grab the post and as he did 4 letters slid inside. 2 of each letter to me and Harry. But once again Vernon took them from us and most likely burned them. The same thing kept happening everyday and and most of the time owls showed up outside our house. Until Sunday...
The Dursley's, me and Harry were all in the living room. The Dursley's were all sitting down and me and Harry gave out biscuits.
"Sunday. My favourite day of the week. Why is that?" Vernon exclaimed and Dudley shrugged.
"There's no post on Sundays," I said, giving him a biscuit.
"Right you are, Y/N! No post on Sundays! Not a single blooming letter," he replied, grinning, as I looked out the glass window to see the most amount of owls out of any day. There was all different types - snowy, brown, barn, eostrix, Northern and Southern white faced owls and more.Harry must have seen them too as he stood next to be a breathed heavily in shock. In the background I heard Vernon mumbling on about how there was no post on Sunday when a letter flew right into his face. Me and Harry turned around when a rumbling noise kept building up from the fire place. Suddenly a bunch of letters burst out and was flying around everywhere, even the letter box blocker was broken down and lots of letters swarmed around us. Both Harry and I jumped onto the table and grabbed our own letters and ran to our cupboard. As Harry was thumbling to open the door, Vernon grabbed both of us as we struggled to get away from his tight grasp.
"Let us go!" I screamed, tears forming in my eyes because of the tight grip Vernon had round my waist.
"They're our letters!" Harry yelled, struggling to fight free.
"We're moving away! Far away! Where they can't find us!"
"Daddy's went crazy, hasn't he?!" Dudley cried as I rolled my eyes.Turns out that Uncle Vernon wasn't joking and early the next morning we left Privet Drive to a broken down house, which was more like planks of wood that would brake with the slightest knock. It was on a very small island made of rocks in the middle of the sea with no one else anywhere in sight.
That night happened to be the night before mine and Harry's birthday and so as Petunia and Vernon were asleep upstairs and Dudley was snoring on the couch next to were Harry and I lay awake on the cold, dirty floor. We drew a cake in the dirt on the floor as we counted down until our birthday, looking at Dudley's watch which he wore round his fat wrist. The watch clicked midnight as we blew at the cake drawing to 'blow out the candles'.
"Happy birthday, (Y/N)" Harry smiled at me as I replied, "Happy Birthday, Harry."
