The Forsaken: Chapter 1, the beginning...

It was a clear, sunny day as the Sun enveloped the Earth in its radiance. Everything was calm, and quiet with the evil long gone. There was a boy sitting in a chair swaying while looking at the reflection of the Sun upon the lake. All was good, and swell. This boy, named Ryan who had dark, brownish, messy looking hair, brown eyes, a smile that gave way to a curious child. He wore a black, and white striped top, and some old, messy, faded blue jeans. Ryan, about to fall asleep because of the peace, was called by his mother and father.

“Ryan lunch is ready”. His mother called,

“Ryan hurry up, I’m starving” His dad added on.

“Alright, I’m coming!” Ryan yelled, lazily.

As Ryan, entered his wooden structured like house, he immediately sat down.

Once Ryan sat down, his mother glared and asked in a concerned voice, “Ryan, did you wash  your hands?”

“Uh… no?” Ryan replied in a deep gulp.

“... Get off your lazy ass, and go wash your hands you should have known better, foolish child” His dad replied.

“Alright... fine,” Ryan said angrily, as he got up to wash his hands.

“HURRY UP, IM STARVING” his dad yelled, scaring Ryan to death.

Ryan, then sat down and started eating ravenously.

“Ryan, slow down you’ll get indigestion.” His mother said in a worried tone.

“ I can’t help it, I’m starving” Ryan managed to say with a mouth full of food.

“Don’t talk with a mouth full of food.” his father said seriously.

“Hahaha, he takes after you” his grandma replied while laughing.

“Mom….. not now” his father initially replied, in an embarrassed tone.

Once they had finished eating, his mom quickly stared at Ryan and demanded: “Ryan, go get some firewood”.

“Ugh, fine…” Ryan said while sighing.

Venturing out of the safety, and comfort of his home,  he started walking along a few stone tiles, until finally reaching the deathsong forest entrance.

“I’ll try to be quick so that I don’t miss out on dinner.” He thought to himself, as he continued down astray on a long stone path. As he continued walking he happened to encounter a sign pointing in two different directions. One path on the left pointing, to a long but difficult, safe path. The opposing sign, on the right, read “short path, but dangerous. Beware!” Intrigued by this dangerous path. Ryan smiled curiously, hoping to quench his curious mind as after taking this pathway many times he had never seen the short path he only went along the long path since that was the safest option.

“I wonder what is down, this path” Ryan said in a curious voice, while smiling innocently. As he ventured further, along the short path. He stumbled across some old ruins. With an unordinary, inquisitive smirk of curiosity.

“Maybe I’ll find some gold or something that will make me rich.” Ryan thought greedily,  upon exploring the desolate ruins for any treasures, he happened to find writing engraved, in solid gold upon the wall. Intrigued by this Ryan, started trying to pull one of the golden letters from the wall. Succeeding at this, Ryan fell over and hit the floor.

“Man, who was dumb enough to leave solid gold here.” Ryan thought, dumbfounded.

“Wait, what is that language? Some foreign language” He spoke, deeply interested.

“It seems to be English but scrambled in some code... Wait a minute! Maybe if I solve this, it will open up a treasure” he said with determination in his voice. Oddly enough it read “retniw si gnimoc”.

“Let’s see… that goes there, and that there…nearly.” Ryan said out loud.

“It reads, what?” he thought in his attempt to decipher the words. Eventually, he unscrambled the words and put them into order,

“What the hell? Winter is coming..?” Shocked in thought, Ryan remembered what his grandmother had told him.

Flashback:

Long ago, there was an of agent pure evil. He ruled over the world in absolute fear, conquering all that opposed him. Somewhat, that evil vanished overtime and faded from the memories of humanity alike.

End of Flashback:

As Ryan resembled the unscrambled words, and read it out loud the letters started to glow crimson, opening up the wall and transforming it into a passageway. He explored further into the new passageway and came across an orb.

“What the? No gold, eh.. screw this I’m out” Ryan said angrily in a hurry, to get back into his pathway.

Running to the exit, Ryan hit his head and fell back hitting the hard floor.

“What the hell? Let me out! Help” Ryan screamed from the top of his lungs.

“I won’t steal the gold anymore, I swear!” he said desperately. No answer came, only a single light in the middle of the room. The orb, starting glowing bright red drastically.

“Touch the orb, and you will be free.” an unfamiliar, called out to him.  With no choice, Ryan got up and hesitantly, reached out and touched the orb.

“Hahaha, foolish kid did you really think I’d let you out?” The voice soon said.

“What the, I can’t get my hand off the orb. HELP! SOMEONE, ANYONE” Ryan, in desperation screamed out. As the outward energy started flowing within Ryan, and slowly but gradually filling him up inside making him heat up, and lose consciousness.

Later on, Ryan awoke to find himself in the same position as before but he felt somewhat different.

“What is this sensation I feel within myself, some sort of aura? “ He wondered.

“Crap, I need get back home. My dad will probably ground me for life for going out this long.” He thought to himself, as he sprinted back to his house in his top speed.

Until he saw it that once curious, innocent smile was replaced with one of despair, as he saw his home being burnt with his family still inside, as they were screaming in pain. Sorrow gripped him and held him in a frightened embrace. His family, his home, his life, his very world crumbled and was replaced with a rift of distrust, and hatred. A void developed within him that single day, one of displeasure and hatred towards all others his trust gone for good.

Tears flowed from his eyes, His tears soon turned from one of despair and sorrow to one of anger and hatred as he saw a mysterious creature, flying away while laughing at his “achievement” seeing Ryan’s family being burnt alive while screaming in agony. The atmosphere drastically changed from a calm and sunny day, into a dark and rainy night, the moon turned crimson as it ascended into the sky. Ryan, was slowly losing his vision, as his vision gradually became blurry, he saw a mysterious figure walking over to him that said “So your the kid, huh?” before Ryan collapsed.
