Shannon Beveridge has to be one of the most popular kids in school, known for playing basketball, getting good grades, and dating the coolest guy in school. His name is Drew and he is the quarterback of the football team, the class president, and has a rich family that loves to spend their money. Everyone thinks they are the ultimate power couple but Shannon has never been fully happy with him and she can't figure out why.
Shannon's point of view
Today is my first day of junior year and its apparently supposed to be the hardest. I have absolutely no classes with Drew this year, which isn't surprising because he is a senior, but I still wish that he could be with me. Everything was going great until I bumped into this girl in the hallway, I think her name is Cari but I'm not sure. I helped her pick up her books and started heading to class.
Cari: Hey.
Shannon: Hi, you must be Cari, right?
Cari: Yah, but everyone calls me Fletcher.
I can't help but notice how beautiful she is, and usually I would have walked away by now, but something about her just makes me want to learn more about her. I figured out that we had next class together, so when the teacher finally got done talking, I went over to where Cari was sitting.
Cari: hi
Shannon: hey, what up
Cari: just working on a song I started earlier
Shannon: that's cool, I was wondering if you would like to come over later?
Usually I don't invite people to my house because my parents are always mad at me for something, but they have been out of the country for a while visiting my family. Of course I couldn't go because I had school, but they decided to stay for another week, so I have the house to myself.
Cari's point of view
I can't believe THE Shannon Beveridge is inviting me to her house, she never even noticed me until today. I have secretly had a crush on Shannon ever since middle school, but of course not even my best friend knows about it, absolutely nobody knows I'm gay, and I don't plan on anyone knowing anytime soon.
Cari: sure, but I have to do my homework while I'm there
Shannon: that's fine, maybe I could help you
After school
I just got to Shannon's house and we are doing our homework and since math is my worst subject Shannon decided to help me until I got finished.
Shannon: you wanna watch a movie?
Cari: as long as it's scary
Little did I know, Shannon is scared easy because as soon as the first jump scare happened she was right next to me. I was so nervous I wasn't even paying attention to the movie, all I wanted to do was to hold her and protect her, but I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable since we barely know each other.
I watched to movie in silence watching Shannon jump every time something happened and cover her eyes, which was actually kind of cute. I was zoned out, staring at the screen when Shannon basically jumped right on me and hid her face in my neck.
Shannon: sorry but I-i just g-got
Cari: scared?
She shakes her head and looks right in my eyes, being so close to her, I just want to kiss her, our faces are only inches apart and I think this is the hardest thing I've ever had to try to resist. Her lips just look so soft, but I need to stop thinking like this, she has a boyfriend and that would make our new friendship much more complicated.
After looking in her eyes for what felt like forever, I thought her amazing blue eyes were the best thing until they closed and she started leaning in.
