Stuck in a city basically stuck with eternal winter, I'm pretty cold resistant. However, I had never understood the cold shoulders my sister Rachel had been giving me for ten years.
It's not like I've ever done anything wrong to her. In fact, she was the one pampered with gifts and boys and everything she wanted. Rachel was extremely talented in ice skating. She does figure skating and wins most of the local ice skating tournaments. We never got out of town, but if we ever do, I'm sure she'll win international awards too.
I've always been in the shadows of her, and I'm sick of it. Instead of trying to steal the spotlight, I gave it all to her and focused on my future. I'm planning to travel around the world and finally see everything beyond the borders of Winter Valley once and for all. Those mountains and flowers and all the greens fascinated me ever since they were shown on the National Geographic Channel. I've been dreaming about them ever since.
I love reading. Books are my world. My safe haven. Whenever Rachel and her friends teased me, I'll just go read silently and ignore them. I would read books about amazing things around the world and dreaming of one day to be there, I would plan out my routes and draw checkpoints on maps. Sometimes my heart would fly all the way out there, and to others, I was just reading in the corner.
Despite how much I hated my sister and her attitude, I wouldn't do a thing about it. Who sayid twins always have to stick together?
I'd be better off on my own.
