IT STARTED WITH A BASEBALL bat. eden woke up, casually got dressed and went to work before returning home and going to sleep once again. of course, she didn't expect to wake up in the middle of the night, the baseball bat she has never used once in her life in her hands. she held in tightly, her feet padding along the floorboards as she sneaked a glance around the corner. empty.
she walked into the living room, looking around. she let out a shriek when a hand clasped around her mouth, a voice she knew all too well quietly telling her to be quiet.
once he let go of her, she spun around and let the baseball bat drop, hitting her brother on the chest, "luci!"
"how many times do i have to tell you to quit calling me that?" lucifer, a name their devil worshipping father chose, huffed. eden glared at him, "it makes me sound like a girl."
"well, you are a bit of a girl." eden shrugged. lucifer hit her lightly on the shoulder, causing the girl to release a small laugh, "sorry. why are you wandering the apartment this early in the morning? its, like, five am."
"i know, i know." lucifer, or l as he preferred, muttered. eden furrowed her eyebrows, tilting her head when l looked down at the floor. he was her younger brother and he was normally the most confident of the two, "i just keep thinking about it."
"we moved out for a reason." eden gave the young boy a small smile, rubbing his shoulder, "mom told us to. besides, dad wouldn't stop telling us that the devil gave us gifts. i'm pretty sure his kinda insane."
lucifer chuckled, "pretty sure? he was insane. for all we know, he was gonna sell us to the devil for immortality."
"come on." eden sighed, slinging an arm over his shoulders, "we're sleeping in my room."
"i don't need to sleep with my older sister." lucifer shook his head.
"would you rather sleep alone?"
"you leave alone, i murder you."
EDEN DAVENPORT DIDN'T exactly love work. in fact, it may have been one of the worst things she had to do out of the week. waitressing around wasn't that bad, but her manager happened to be a sexist pig who looked at every girl who ever worked there's asses. being a teen, it was worse. he gave her chills and lucifer had to stop from getting a gang on his ass for the sake of his sister. she needed the money and she pushed past her want to freeze his ass.
she sighed, shaking her head at yet another comment the man had thrown at her best friend who gave him a fake smile before turning to eden.
"i'm gonna kill him." vanessa hissed, causing eden to chuckle softly to herself.
"no, you're not." eden shook her head. she watched as vanessa sighed dramatically, walking away to take another customers order. eden looked back at the plus sized man who she really hated.
she whispered something under her breath the man starting to turn pale, yelling something about the air conditioner. she smirked to herself, her eyes turning a soft icy blue for a second before returning back to their warm brown.
"you want a drive home?" vanessa asked.
"yeah." eden nodded, "yeah, i'd like that very much."
