A Forgotten Memory

                                     Prologue

              A man with medium length black hair stared in both awe and horror at the obviously newly born baby. It was incredibly tiny and very beautiful, and laying fast asleep in an ornate emerald and black crib. Written on the crib in delicate silver cursive was the name Jacalinda Lauren Thomasina Riddle. So this is why our mission was so easy tonight he thought to himself.They had tried many times before to capture his cousin, but she always managed to get away.No matter how many she was up against.This time though she had not been herself,she was disoriented and didn't try to apparate away.She just fought like mad, but her movements were slower than normal.It all made sense now.

        Come little one he cooed to the baby as he carefully picked it up. Dumbledore will know what to do with you. There was a loud clapping sound and the man and baby disappeared. They reappeared in study of the headquarters building.There were a lone figure at a desk.He had long white hair, and half moon spectacles,and a long white beard to match.

        He looked up with curiosity as he sensed their presence.Serious he questioned did all go well?The mission was easier than expected,and Bella is on her way to Azkaban,no one was badly injured.There was something unexpected there though.

       At that point Serious gently uncovered the baby that he had wrapped in his cloak.Dumbledore stared, in stunned disbelief for a moment, before standing up and making his way towards them.He examined the child closely before saying well she is certainly a pleasant surprise.Pleasant? Serious cut in being the child of my horrible cousin and who knows who the father is, and you call her a pleasant surprise? Serious Dumbledore said look at this precious little girl, she didn't choose who her parents are.It is in fact very fortunate that you found her.Imagine the kind of life this poor child would have had otherwise.

               Now though we must send an urgent patronus to Kingsly,who is transporting Bellatrix.He must, for little Jacalinda's safety, obliviate Bella's memory.I fear for the little one's safety, should her mother ever escape and remember her.

            Kingsly arrived several hours later to report to Dumbledore.Her memory has been wiped and she is secured in Azkaban.Once Kingsly was dismissed Dumbledore turned to the crib lying against the side wall.He stared at the baby as he was deep in thought.Now my dear who is the right choice for your guardian?
