I ran. Fast. God I have the greatest bus driver ever. Not! My bus stop came into view as I saw my bus slowly pulled from the curb. Well that’s fantastic I’m late and today is the first day of school.

Well now I have to walk, great. Looking around myself I felt the moisture in the air, well it feels like rain spirit. I adjusted my backpack and headed towards the direction of my school. Of course my mother, the jerk, couldn’t drive me because I have two feet and a heartbeat.

The school came to view and I looked at my watch 8:45, so I was 15 minutes late. Not as bad as I assumed. Taking a deep breath I walked into the school and towards the gym. While opening the doors I received a few stares but it was probably from my being late, my was outfit completely figured out down to the last thread.

I spotted Maddy, my best friend, sitting on the bleachers. I speedily made my way towards her when I suddenly saw a foot stick out. Great, that’s just fan-friken-tastic. I had stopped too late, and ended up falling on my face.

Laughter burst out and my face resembled a tomato. “Thank you Ms. Blue for that lovely interruption now please take a seat,” said Mr. Daniel said stiffly. I replied with a curtsey and went and sat by Madelyn, who was laughing.

“Jay only you would be late and make a fool of yourself on the first day,” Maddy whispered to me.

“Why thank you, I appreciate being late and tripped on the first day.” Mr. Daniel finished and received a big applause from the crowd, mostly because that meant they were closer to going home.

I had to go to homeroom which was a little ways away from the gym so I put my headphones in and started listening to some music Kiss You Inside Out came on so like any sane person I started singing. While skipping down the halls some random dude ran in to me so I hit the wall. “HEY YOU!” he continued walking so I ran after him and spun him around. “You have a minute to explain yourself before I sac you!”

For the first time I saw his face. His eyed were a stunning blue and his hair was a soft chocolate brown. His face carried a breath taking smile. Compared to my 5’7 and a ½ he was a giant. He looked 6’2ish with a strong build.

“My parents named me Wayne after Wayne Gretsky. Apparently a figure skater and an ice hockey player are supposed to make beautiful skating prodigies. Do you want to know something funny, you probably didn’t think this? My mom is the hockey player. I also dislike cheese.”

“Wayne? I just wanted to know why you ran into me.” I slowly explained hoping I would get a real answer this time.

“Oh that,” he says rocking back on his heels. “The hockey jocks challenged me to a scrimmage with all of them against me and I won.” Ha that’s not too surprising the boys aren’t very good at teamwork until I get on the ice.

“Then why did you run?” I asked genuinely curious. His face looked semi surprised by my question.

“I am the most hated new kid in this school. Didn’t you know?” I looked around to see what he meant and everywhere people were staring open mouthed at us. Probably because he beat the boys and they were jealous of his talent.

“Shut your mouths!” I yelled tired of being stared at. “Wayne?”

“Oui,” he replied smiling at me. French reply nice.

“I have to go to homeroom see you later, sí?” I asked, replying with small smile. Maybe he would see me later unless the boys found him and made him transfer.

“Oui Oui. Au Revoir, She Who Shall Not Be Named!”

“Bye and by the way my name is Jay.” I said with a crooked smile.

The day went on fairly normal (minus all the stares and such) until I got home and saw all the boxes.
