The New Proxy

Chapter 3

After parting ways with Kay, I went home to eat, argue with my stupid dad, & get ready for work. I work at the local bake shop. The pay is good, I'm glad I don't bake them though. That would be a disaster. Some costumers ask where I get my contacts from, in all honesty I wish they were contacts, then maybe life would be easy, & more normal.

Hearing the bell of the door ring, I see Josh walking in. My ex. Dear lord, please take me away from here. He sits down at one of the small tables, and pulls out his phone. "Ava, go serve that young man." Says, Bonnie my boss. I give her a pleading look, "oh please, don't make me serve him. You already know what's going to happen!" I say, desperately hoping she'd let me off the hook.

"Fine. Go serve those young men over there." She points, I look over & see Brian, Tim, & Toby. Oh god, no. I look at her, & smile, "on second thought, I'll go serve Josh." I smile, & quickly walk over to him.

"Welcome to Bonnie's treats, can I get you anything?" I try to smile, politely at him. He looks over, & smirks, "yes, I'd like a coke, & you back." He winks, & I try hold myself back from gagging. "A coke coming right up! And the second one? That's unavailable right now." I turn to walk away, but he grabs my arm. I look at his hand panicked. I yank it out of my grasp, & go to get his coke. Maybe serving the other guys would've been better.

"Here's your coke." I put it on his table, & walk away. "Didn't know you had a bigger ass then before." Okay, that was highly inappropriate, and it sure pissed me off! Scoffing, I turn around and march back toward him.

   "Didn't think you'd become more of an asshat then you already were." I smirk at him, he wants to disrespect me? He ain't going to get away with it. He scoffs, "you didn't say that when I had you bent over the cou-" before he can finish, Brian quickly came over, and scoffed, "leave her alone, fucknut." Why was he suddenly taking up for me? I could've totally had it!

   "You wanna say that to my face, asshole?" Chuckled Josh, for some reason I felt relieved that Brian stepped in. I didn't have to put up with Josh anymore. Brian growled, "I would've of, but all I see is an ass with two eyes!" He scoffed. I couldn't help but giggle, okay.. that was a good one! Josh suddenly got up, & was now face to face with Brian. Josh shoved Brian, Brian shoved him back. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I couldn't really do anything with these two.

  I look at Tim & Toby for some sort of help, but they were suddenly gone. Wow, guys. I could've totally needed help. Brian & Josh were yelling at eachother, while Bonnie was telling them to quit. Josh raised his hand, ready to hit Brian. It's like I couldn't control my own feet, I jumped in the way to stop him from hitting Brian.

  Struck in face, & I was on the ground. "What the fuck?!" Yelled Brian, he quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me up. Holding my cheek, I stood behind Brian. Bonnie came rushing over, "get out of my bakery! Staff abuse will not be tolerated, if you do not leave, I'll be sure to call the police." She glared at Josh, anger clear on her face. Josh, angrily grabbed his drink, turned to me, "this isn't over!" He yelled walking out. Well, how do I explain this to my mother?

  Brian begins to walk out, I quickly run toward him, stopping him. "Thank you, Brian." I give him a small smile, "but I could've had that." He scans my face, looking for some sort of emotion. He chuckles, "I know sweetheart, but i wasn't gonna let some asshat talk to you in such a way." He simply states, walking out of the bakery.

  Checking the time, I realize we fought for an hour, surprisingly. My shift was now over. I begin to take my apron off, putting my notepad by the register. Slipping on my rain jacket on, & yell at Bonnie. "Bonnie I'm leaving!" She comes out not a moment later, she nods and goes back toward the back of the bakery, but stops. She turns around toward me, "so? Who was the boy?" She grins at me, I stiffen. Is he a friend? What is he to me? Nothing, he's nothing.

  "He's uhh, I don't actually know. He's a person from my school though." I tell her, I know nothing about Brian besides he's sorta an asshat himself. Maybe I could get to know him? I don't know. Sounds like a bad idea. Hopefully, I'll at least get to know his last name. I chuckle, and continue to walk out the cafe, for the journey home.

   It's dark out now, I wish I didn't have to walk, but I'm lucky I saved up for a cheap car. Which would be great, to have right about now, that way I wouldn't have to walk in such creepy nights like this.

  Did I mention I have to walk by the forest to? Fucken creepy! Seeing the forest coming up, I hurried up and sped walk. I hear a branch crack, panicked I look toward where I heard it. Horrified I stare at what was staring at me.

   There stood a very tall man, in a suit with a red tie. He had very long limbs, his arms going past his waist, his legs super long. This man, or thing. Had to be at least 8 to 10 feet tall! Static started filling my ears, my heart hammering in my chest, I felt nauseous. I wanted to scream and run but I couldn't. It's like my feet couldn't move. Holy hell, I'm going to die! But that wasn't what scared me the most, no.

The thing didn't have a fucking face.
