As I stand, quivering, teeth chattering, a thought comes to me. 'I have to win, not just for me, but for Clo', I'm all she has, and she's all I've got. A young 10 year old girl, who is just learning the complicated rules and regulations of life can't live alone, she doesn't yet have the Knowledge on how to feed and take care of herself. If I don't-'
a rude and intruding deep voice interrupts my train of thought.
"Good Morning Inkubania, please rise for the anthem"
I clutch the light blue letter in my left and almost instantly, Clo' squeezes my right hand so hard, the circulation stops, but I don't mind, this may be the last time I will get to feel the softness of her warm small hands. As the anthem finishes the voice fades in again.
"Now, let's get started, shall we? May the 7 children with the periwinkle note please step forward onto the round panels?" The deep voice asks.
I'm guessing periwinkle is blue, because well, there is no other letter.
I shake Clo' off and step away.
"I Love You Anelle!" She cries as her skinny pale arms wrap around my waist.
After about 2 minutes, a kind stranger comes and yanks her tight grip off of my abdomen.
"I'll come back Clo'! Don't worry!" I shout as I move closer and closer to the stage with the silver panels. As I step onto the silver circle, Clo' comes running up in front of the stage, I blow her a kiss, and the blue velvet curtains close. A single salty tear runs down my cheek, I then snap back to reality and wipe it away with the dark blue sleeve of my blouse.
The Panel spins us to face the host's and creator's faces which makes my brown locks of hair fly. They grin as they take a short walk around my shaking body. The inspectors soon after ask "Why the shaking dear? Nothing to be afraid of." I just smile, look away and roll my eyes at the stupid comment they tried to tell me, but that's lies, I watch it with Clo' twice a year, 'Pyramid Olympics' believe it's called, but every year, they send a boy or girl of the age 13 to 17 somewhere unimaginable to seek thecrystal pyramid that lies. It's cruel really, but, if you so happen to find the pyramid, you and your family will live wealthy forever. The catch is, only one can win. It's a fight to the death for an 'old piece of junk' as I call it.
"Okay," the host continues "The rule is where we will start. One comes back. Now, what is your task you ask? You will need to find acrystal pyramid that awaits in the gamed grounds, one finds it, one survives." The host explains.
"So, one person only?" A boy with black curly hair questions.
"I wouldn't think so, as only one is able to win." The creator kindly answers with a grin slapped onto his face.
"Now, for the training, if you all would follow me this way we can show you our fitness coaches and instructors." The Host motions us through a tunnel on the right side of the stage. I almost trip on one of the steps as the boy with black hair catches me. "Thanks for the warning Mr.Host Guy," I murmur under my breath.
"Pardon?" The boy asks.
"Uuum'," I studder "Um' I mean thanks."
"No problem..." The boy replies as we make our way to the big brown door. The host opens the door with a shriek. We all gather in a small circle and wait for our fitness coaches and instructors to come join us and take us away. While I'm waiting, thoughts of Clo' enter my mind, my heart starts to throb, my head is aching, my back gets stiff and my eyes start to overflow with salty liquid. tears start flowing down, first one, then two, then five, I am unable to stop it. I turn and run to the corner where I wipe my face with my hand, which doesn't do much help because there are still several streaks of pink which mark the tears of sorrow. But it will have to do.
