She knew that not all of them were going to make it. She could feel it. Running through the burning buildings, she carried the young woman in her hands as she dogged the flaming walls.
All around her, the flames danced beside her, welcoming her death as they crept closer and closer. She looked down at the young woman who reminded so much of her young sister, beautiful blond hair and oval face with pretty features. Like and angel, she thought a tear escaping.
Pushing herself, she busts through the flames, her breath becoming harsher as she runs.
Please, know I deserve it but not her, she thought praying at whoever was listening. Not her.
After none stop running through the flaming corridors, she saw an opening.
Almost there! She thought to herself as she pushed her tired legs to run.
Marcia! Marcia! He heard a man calling. He sounded desperate, a broken man.
Is that your man Marcia?” She thought consecrating at the young woman.
“We’re here!” She yelled out still running.
When she finally reached the opening, she lets out a broken sigh and waves out.
“Is any one down there?” she calls waving her free arm while the other clutches onto the young woman.
“Yes, we can hear you. Can you jump?” a male voice calls up .the voice sounded like an angel calling smooth like chocolate.
“Yes but take the girl first!” she yells lifting Marcia up.
She looks down at the men below her and one catches her eye. He’s tall and from what she could tell very good looking. But it’s his eyes that shock her. Coal black like a snake.
Snapping out of the gaze, she yells,” can you catch her?”
When she hears a muffle yes she pushes the young woman outside and watched as another young man catches her. He pulls the woman to his chest and whispers words.
So it is your man she thought.
As she was about to jump out, the roof on top cracks and falls on her and the last thing she hears is a man’s loud voice yelling out a strangled “no!”
