Prologue: A Change In Life's Course

Y/N POV

Swinging my fist forwards one last time I make contact with my mentor's stomach causing him to fly back a considerable distance. I hear them chuckle slightly as they get up. "You really are the best successor I could've asked for" I smile and bow in respect. "Thank you sensei, I couldn't have done it without your help"

"You really make me proud L/N, take care" He says walking away. I truly couldn't have asked for a better teacher. The number one hero gave me more power than I could have ever wanted, I'll be number one soon, I'll be tasked with saving those who can't save themselves. It's a hard task, but I'm up to it.

I mean I just got my provisional hero licence, I can't stop now. I do kind of wish a crime would happen, I'm tired up and really want to save someone! What's the use of these quirks if I can't use them? I head into a bank, I need some money for groceries...

"EVERYONE GET DOWN!"

I turn around to see a group of thugs, about five, one of which currently holds a hostage, his hand made into blade pointed at her throat. I smirk slightly as one of the group points his hand in my direction, a clear intimidation tactic, I can tell, he's quirkless. "Get down!"

"Overclock: Instant Eight" Most of the group looks to me confused. "What?" I smirk as I active Overclock, a quirk I took from an arrested villain, my mentor was happy to help me in pretty much anyway. Several times, he had taken me to various prisons to collect quirks of villains. Before anyone could realise what I was planning, I was across the room and the thugs were on the floor, unconscious.

The room was silent as everyone tried to figure out what happened, the silence was short-lived however. The room was quickly filled cheering and applause, to be honest, it felt great. I love being appreciated, approval is what I live for at the moment, I want to redeem myself for... what my father did.

Eventually the police showed up and began arresting the thugs. I showed them my license and a few even congratulated me. I got asked quite a few questions from the crowd, I felt on top of the world, I was finally redeeming my family name!

Until the ground seemingly disappeared, I forgot about the man with the portal quirk...

I was suddenly falling through a tunnel of lights, no clue where I'm heading...

I don't think I'm going to be able to redeem my family name anymore...
