Dumebi was a young teenage girl, who lived in a small town called Osmoja. She lived with only her mother in a small apartment which couldn't even be as big as the boys quarters but she was very proud of who she was and how she lived. She was never jealous of anyone, much more the friends she walked with. She loved her mother so much she was always close to her. Dumebi never joked with her studies, to Dumebi her book was her best friend. Dumebi's mother worked as a trader she hardly hard enough money to cater for her daughter.
She attended a little Community School which was 10 kilometers away from where she lived. She was a popular girl in school,a well behaved student, a First Class topper. Neatly dressed although her uniform was in bad condition. Dumebi was a final year student who had barely two months to her final exam in Junior High. She had great hopes of passing her exams and becoming a Medical Doctor in future. She received encouragement from other relatives, teachers and the market women from where her mother sold tomatoes. Her mother saw she was working hard for her exams but realized the condition and environment where they lived wasn't safe for her daughter she thought about this for some time. One day as she went to the market as usually she does. She wasn't in her right self a friend of her then noticed the mood of Martha( Dumebi's mother) and decided to ask her what was wrong.
(Woman walks towards her)
Woman: Martha I was watching you from afar and it seems you have been thinking. If I may ask what about
Martha: My friend it is nothing. I am just thinking of my daughters future. Look at where we live( in tears)
I want to relocate from where we live. But I don't have money.
Woman: It's really bad. I want to ask a question?Martha: What question?
Woman: Why wouldn't you look for the where about of her father.
Martha: ( looks at the woman) you are right. I guess it's time for me to do so. You are right thank you my friend
Woman: no problem what are friends for
( the conversation ends , the woman walks to her items whiles Martha wipes of her tears)
She thought about it severally and decided to get in touch with Dumebi's father for over 15 years ever since he left her and decided to live and work abroad. One day Dumebi's mother got dumebi ready for school as usually she does. As dumebi was about to set off for school her mother said" I would be a bit late today my dear so if you get back from school look on top of the shelves I left some money for you, use it to buy some food when you are hungry. I would be back before 8pm" Dumebi didn't understand and said " my mother where would you be going today?" Her mother then said" I will tell you when I get back, its a promise you can go now. I love you.
(Dumebi hugged her mother and begun to run for school )
immediately after she left for school her mother also set off. She was going to the house of Dumebi's grandparents( Max's parents) which was located in the next town, she wasn't comfortable going there but she had to do it because of her daughter.
The journey was quite a long journey. On her arrival from a distance she saw the parent of max sitting outside on two wooden chairs. Max's parents where astonished to see Martha their daughter in-laws they hardly heard about coming from a distance. They got up from the chairs and walked slowly to Martha as she was also approaching. She had lots of questions to answer. But Martha was not ready to answer those questions she got straight to the point and told them why she was here. Max's parents then said" my son has been looking for you over this years where have you been".
Martha told the parents what she faced, why she was her and about her daughter.
