prologue

There was silence. The eerie type, that makes your heart pound and anxiety starts to grow within you.

A girl was walking on her own on the path of the forest. She looked carefully where she was going, aware to not lose the location of her and her friends' tent. Her breathing was ragged, but she had to carry on. She had to find the others.

Her shoes made a lot of noise on the snowy path. But suddenly, she noticed that she wasn't the only one walking. She abruptly stopped, but kept on hearing the other mysterious footsteps.

"Chaewon?" She called out softly, almost as a whisper. The footsteps, which she now heard behind her, didn't stop. And instead of an answer, she heard a groan in response.

Fear grew in the girl's body, and she started to run. The footsteps behind her picked immediatly the pace up as well. Her breath came out hard and heavy, her sides were starting to hurt. Tears started forming in her eyes, and thoughts raced in her head. What if she never gets back to the tent? What if she dies here? What if she will never see her friends and family again? What if..

Her thoughts stopped abruptly when she felt a hand in her shouder, making her stop running and almost stumble over. There was heavy breathing on her neck and ear, and the hand felt bony on her shoulder. She took a deep breath. With all the force left in her, she yelled Chaewon's name, in the hope the blonde-haired girl would find her. Then she felt a hard punch on her head. She fell to the floor, and everything became dark infront of her eyes.

The last thing she heard, was someone yelling back her own name.
