Regan slipped some regular clothes and some sneakers on and, grabbing her backpack she ran to Guv's receiving room.

She zipped in and skidded to a halt, dramatically bowing to him.

He rolled his eyes and hopped off the oak chair, dramatically bowing to her as well.

She laughed and took off her beanie, plopping it on his head. "Your Royal  Guv." she giggled.

Martin took the beanie off and threw it at her, laughing. "Hilarious, Reg."

She caught it easily, "Well of course it is. You're laughing."

Martin threw a book at her and she dodged it easily.

"Governor Martin. Just because you're 16 doesn't mean you get to play." an older man said grumpily from a nearby seat.

Martin grabbed Regan's beanie and threw it at him, "Aw, come on, Sn-Stefan. Let me have a little fun." the beanie landed on Stefan's head and he glared at Martin. Martin pointed at Regan.

"Yeah, come on Sne-Stefan. Give us ten minutes." begged Regan, shoving Martin's arm down.

Stefan glared at them, "Ten minutes." he consented.

Martin whooped and pulled Regan out of the hall and into the gardens.

Without him noticing, Regan slipped out of his grasp and ducked behind a grove of trees.

He ran a few more feet then skidded to a stop and looked around, confused. "Reg! Where are you?" he called, walking deeper into the gardens.

Regan tiptoed out from behind the trees and followed him quietly, sliding from one shadow to another.

Martin stopped in the middle of the path and scratched his head, "Regan Rose Lanier get out here!" he complained, "You're using up all our time."

Regan used a trick that her master had taught her and projected her voice to the side of the clearing opposite her. "Well...if you put it that way..."

Martin turned toward that area and started walking toward it.

Regan slipped out from the shadows and, staying low to the ground she tiptoed toward him.

Martin had almost reached the trees when Regan jumped on him.

They tumbled to the ground, laughing.

Regan rolled away and bounced onto her feet. She dashed off deeper into the gardens and Martin ran after her.

"Regan! It's been nearly ten minutes!" he called, looking around for her, "Snek will be grumpy!"

"Who cares about Snek?" Regan called back, looking around for a good hiding place.

"You have a new assignment!" Martin yelled, his voice closer than before.

Regan pinpointed where it was coming from and raced out, ramming into him.

"What is it?" she asked, getting up and helping him up.

"Tests at Grimswall. We need you to go undercover and find out what's happening." Martin blurted out.

Regan froze, her nightmares rushing back. "No." she said shortly, walking away.

Martin jogged after her, "Regan, please. Your nightmares are just...well, nightmares. We need to find out what's happening."

"No!" Regan refused to look at Martin and continued walking down the trail purposefully.

"Regan." Martin's voice got softer and she knew what he would say next. "My sister died in that orphanage. I need to find out how and why."

Regan stopped and her shoulders slumped, "I know." she murmured.

Martin caught up to her and gave her a hug. "Please?" he whispered.

Regan sighed and hugged him back, "Alright, fine."

Martin smiled and rested his chin on her head, "Thank you."
