Raina POV
"Raina. RAINA!"
All of a sudden I feel a sharp pain at the side of my head. I open my eyes but immediately close them when a bright light floods my vision. Once I recovered I opened them again to see my twin brother, Alec, shining his phone flashlight in my face. I smack his phone out of his hand and turn to face the opposite way.
"Hey!" he says picking up his phone, "the jets landing soon so get your shit and get ready to leave"
"And you couldn't tell me that without smacking me or almost leaving me blind" I say rolling me eyes
"It's not nearly as fun though" he pouts and laughs.
"What time is it?" I ask
"Eight" he responds and I look out the window, wondering what life will be like in this new city.
I stand up to stretch my legs which are stiff for being still for hours. I'm ready to get out of this plane. Even though we're on a private jet and everything you need is on this plane, I've been here for about ten hours and ready to get out and breathe actual air.
"Are you ready?" Alec asks and I turn to look at his hazel eyes. I'm glad that our dad sent us both to New York City but I know my dad could never trust Alec to go to a new city by himself. Alec is reckless and irresponsible with everything unless it involves the gang.
Yes, gang. My dad's name is Marco Lorenzo, the leader of a mafia founded in Florence, Italy. This life has always been in my family for generations, and is going to be passed down to either my brother or me. We came to New York because my family's business has extended to the U.S and my father thinks it's time for us to start learning what it means to be in a gang, especially since one of us is the future leader.
"Doesn't matter" I say "Dad sent us here to learn how to become a skillful leaders, and that's exactly what we are going to do"
"I meant getting all your stuff not 'are you ready to move to a brand new city' but okay" he says rolling his eyes
I pick my laptop off of my blanket and fold it trying to somewhat tidy my seat. I look over at Alec's which look like a pig spent the night there. After my seat is some-what clean it's time to get off.
As soon as the stairs are set down, I run down them and breathe in the cool night air. To the side I see a chauffeur standing next to a black Range Rover and stretch my body because I know i'm going to have to sit for a while more before we get to the apartment.
"Raina and Alec, I hope you had a nice flight. I'm Richard and will be your chauffeur for the time that you stay in New York" he says opening the door.
"Thanks man" Alec says before getting in and I follow him.
"So how long is the drive before we arrive to the apartment?" I ask once we're on the road, hoping it won't be long.
"Two hours miss" he responds and I grimace.
"I know a shortcut that will lessen it to an hour. I thought perhaps you guys would like to see a bit of the city first."
"I think it's best if we just go to our apartment" Alec responds.
"Just go to sleep" Alec says looking at my bored expression "I'll wake you when we're home. I won't smack you this time I promise"
I raise an eyebrow at him. He acts as if I haven't spent 18 years of my life with him.
"I'm not tired" I state knowing that he will be planning some childish way to wake me up.
