when jungkook hasn't made eye contact with anyone ever since middle school, jimin decides to change that despite his past with the younger.
INSPIRED BY A SILENT VOICE
jungkook was just staring down at the crumpled notebook between his hands, not believing what he's seeing.
this couldn't be...
he was snapped out of his little trance when a jogger bumped into him, turning around momentarily to say, "watch out!"
jungkook held the book between his arms as he walked to the school that the boy was allegedly attending.
once jimin moved schools, the whole class found out. rumors went around like crazy.
-
"jungkook! answer me when i'm talking to you." his mother shouted up at him as he pushed past her, walking up the stairs to go lay down in his room.
"why did you do it?" his mother whispered, shocked that her son was capable of bullying someone to the point of their parents calling the school to take them out.
"you wouldn't understand." he muttered, attempting to walk up the stairs again.
"don't you dare leave." his mother stomped her foot on the ground, showing dominance.
"you are my son. you wouldn't do this." she heartbrokenly said, looking at jungkook's back with a hurtful expression.
"well i did." he said before he ran up the stairs, not wanting to deal with his mom.
the next day he was walking around the park when he saw a familiar pink haired boy.
his doe eyes widening when he saw an older women standing by him, guessing she was his mom.
he quickly ducked behind a bench when their eyes started to look over his way.
he peaked out to see that they were walking away from the park, releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding.
he never meant for jimin to be so hurt he'd move schools. it's all his fault.
-
jungkook looked around the school, it was clean. he heard footsteps behind him and turned around to see who it was.
once his eyes laid upon a shockingly familiar pair of eyes, his world slowed down.
everything went blurry, everything muffled. he couldn't comprehend anything, only the terrible things he's done in his past.
those memories were screaming at him. telling him it was all his fault. he shouldn't even be here.
"j-jimin.." his mumbled, eyes quickly avoiding eye contact, head putting an X across jimin's face. merely blocking him out of his sight.
jimin's eyes widened, tilting his head to get a better look at the younger.
he backed up a few steps once he realized it really is him.
his eyes went down to the notebook that was placed on the younger's palms, stretching out to grab it.
jungkook slowly looked up, still not making direct eye contact. but what he did make eye contact with was jimin's lips.
they were— smiling?
why is he smiling at me? i destroyed his life. i need to leave.
he went to leave but jimin grabbed onto his arm, pulling him back.
jimin shook his head with pleading eyes.
don't leave.
jungkook slowly turned around to face jimin, he also noticed his hair was still pink.
apologize. i should apologize. maybe then, we will both get closure.
"jimin.. i'm so sorry." he started but then realized that jimin cant hear him. he hesitantly reached for the notebook.
once it was in his hands, he grabbed a pen from inside his book bag.

once jungkook was done writing, he handing the notebook back to jimin, keeping his head down.
as jimin was reading it, another flashback came to jungkook.
-
it was late at night, the streets of seoul being lit up by surrounding building and lampposts.
the stars shining brightly above jungkook's brown hair. he had just said goodbye to his friends, now walking back home.
he was kicking rocks that he saw ever so often laying on the dirty sidewalk he strolled upon.
he came to a stop once he heard familiar laughing.
he raised his gaze only for it to land on the pink haired boy. jimin.
jungkook rolled his eyes and tried to walk past as fast as he could so jimin wouldn't see him.
he was pulled back by a tug at his pant leg.
he turned around to see jimin's small hand holding the fabric, brown eyes sparkling up at him.
jimin pulled away, he was on the floor because he saw a snail and he wanted to put it back on the grass so it would be hurt when he jungkook walking by.
"get off me." jungkook shook jimin's hand off him, beginning walk away.
jungkook was yet again being pulled back.
"what do you want?" he spat, clearly annoyed at the older's tactics.
jimin clasped his hands together, shaking them.
jungkook grimaced at the action, not fully understanding what the boy was doing.
throughout that whole week and the week after, jimin would keep doing that gesture towards jungkook.
jungkook would always say some stupid remark or pull a face, making jimin lose hope but he never gave up.
after those weeks of doing that, jimin has moved schools.
-
you know how in movies if a character gets an idea they have a lightbulb appear above their heads? well yeah, that's what happened to jungkook, minus the lightbulb obviously.
he wanted to be friends!
"jimin-hyung." jungkook tried to get jimin's attention. jimin looked up, he could kind of hear a voice speaking due to his hearing aids.
he noticed it was jungkook trying to speak to him. he tilted his head to side once more with a questioning look on his face.
jungkook looked at the floor, taking in a deep breath before he clasped his hands together, shaking them.
he looked into jimin's eyes, the X peeling away from jimin's face, dropping to the floor.
