"Come on in honey" , my mother said while helping me take off my coat.
My mom is one of those people that will spend $300 on other people and spend $10 on herself. She's dedicated her life to helping kids in the orphanage find their homes.
As I walked in into the house, I offered myself a glass of milk that was in the fridge packed with nutritious shakes.
"Oh well! Look who's here!!" , my uncle yelled as he came down from upstairs holding a glass of whine.
This made me remember the old days. My uncle would always come to my house and drink with my dad. Unfortunately my dad passed away a from cancer and my uncle sort of became a father figure to me. Those were the days were everything was so perfect in life. I had friends and a hole for a chance to dream. I've always dreamed of being a famous journalist but after I grew up, I realized that life wasn't that easy.I
"So what brings you here today... And with your suitcase?" My mom asked while handing me some Cheetos .
It took me a while to tell her the good news. My mom has always been so supportive of me ever since the beginning of my career. I've never really done anything major in my career that it made my family sort of lost hope in me. I was finally going to prove them wrong for once.
" I came here to spend the rest of the week with you because your daughter has finally been selected to go to Korea and write an article! " I exclaimed.
"Oh my God honey! I'm so happy for you!!" My mother said cheerfully while leaning on for a hug.
After a lot of bragging and drinking, I finally went to my old bed and sleep. It was the best sleep in my whole entire life because I was finally going to accomplish something in life.
I spent the rest of the week reconnecting with my family . We talked about old times and what has been going on the neighborhood lately. I couldn't believe that James' sister got married last Sunday at the neighborhood church. James would've been so happy to hear about this news.
On Friday I left my parents house as returned back to my apartment. I decided to run some errands on Saturday and packed all of my stuff on that same day.
On Sunday morning, my boss called and said that everything was ready and that I am now okay to leave.
"Thank you so much ma'am, I will now head to that airport. Bye." I said as I hung up the phone.
I took all my suitcases and locked the door.
I arrived 20 minutes earlier and I was ready to depart.
"This is finally my moment to shine." I thought to myself.
