Storm Cats by icyizzy, based off of an RP UNFINISHED

Chapter One
"Mirrorleaf! I'm going to the watering hole, be right back!" Firewave called. And so he went. Firewave trotted off to the watering hole and found a good spot. Firewave was sitting in the river drinking water when Icystar walked up, silently. She too had come for water. Firewave looked up and smiled. Icystar drank silently, but the slightest movement in the bushes nearby caught her eye. She dropped into a hunting position and tracked the movement. So did Firewave. "What are we hunting?" he whispered. "I don't know, but I can see it moving," replied Icystar. "Ok," he said. "I saw a tail behind the bush so we should attack." Ok, Firewave. I'll take it from the left, you take it from the right," said Icystar, already forming a plan. "Sound good?" "Good." He prepared to pounce. "Are you ready?" he asked. "Yup!" Icystar replied. Siltstar sensed the two cats ready to pounce on him and he called out a hasty greeting. "I am Siltstar of Earth Clan. I have come for a drink, nothing more." "Ah, welcome. Come out into the light so we can see you," Icystar invited him out. She waited a bit, then hastily pounced on a shadow of a bird, flying above. This was one of her favourite hobbies. Siltstar stepped out of the bushes, his long tail raised in greeting. His amber eyes were friendly as he sat down on the cool earth. "Hello, I haven't seen you before, are you new?" Icystar asked. Siltstar dipped his head "Yes. I have just come here with my Clan." "Ah, have you any kits yet?," inquired Icystar. She technically has a kit but has never had a mate. This kit is her younger sister, who will one day follow in her footsteps. Siltstar chuckled lightly "No, I'm afraid not. I've been very busy with moving my Clan here and haven't had time to focus on myself. Today is the first day that I was able to just have a nice walk. Though, I'm pretty sure Owlheart fancies me... " He trailed off for a heartbeat before jolting back to Earth "What about you? Oh, and how rude of me, what's your name?" "Oh, that's fine, I'm Icystar, the leader of Waterclan," replied Icystar. "I'm not quite sure if this counts as a kit, but my younger sister, Fernkit is still a kit." "I see." Siltstar curled his thick tail neatly around his paws. "Nice to see other Clan cats around here." "Yes, indeed. Well, Fernkit is still waiting, I had better go now." Icystar walked away in the general direction of Waterclan. Siltstar stood up and padded over to the pool and lowered his head to drink. The cool, smooth watered soothed his dry and dusty throat. After he had drunk his fill, he straightened up and turned around, heading off back to his Clan. He had news to tell them. "Icy? Can you tell me a story?" Fernkit asked. "Alright, Fern," Icystar replied. "Today, I met the leader of Earthclan. His name was Siltstar. He was nice, and I guess that's it, Fern." Icystar's voice trailed off, as she no longer knew what to say. "Icy?" Fernkit's voice jolted her back to reality, as she was lost in a daydream about their mum. "Where did you guys meet?" Of course, Icystar should have told Fernkit all the minute little details, or else she would ask about them afterwards. "At the watering hole, Fern." Icystar and Fernkit both referred to each other by their prefixes sometimes (Icy and Fern), as they were close relatives, and had grown closer when their mum, Starfeather had passed away a couple of moons ago, when Fernkit was just a wee baby, and still suckling milk. If either of them were to call another cat by their prefix, it would be a huge offence. See, clan cats only call other cats they know ultra well by their prefix. The second Siltstar set foot in the camp, several cats ambushed him with questions, updates, and reports. He sighed and calmly answered every cat. After what felt like moons, he finally pushed his way into his den and settled into his nest for the night. Sleep came to him and with it, vivid dreams of longing. "Alright, Fern. It's time for you to be apprenticed! Let's go, and remember, the rock is my spot. No jumping on it, just because I'm your older sister, it doesn't give you that privilege." Icystar and Fernkit padded over to the Big Rock. Icystar took a seat on the Big Rock, whereas Fernkit sat by the Big Rock. "All kits old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Big Rock!" Icystar called out. This also meant that all older cats must stand close by, in case they would be assigned an apprentice. "Nightkit, you will now be known as Nightpaw. Nightpaw, you will be apprenticed to our medicine cat, Starspring. You may now rub noses." After a bit, she finally got to Fernkit. "Fernkit, you will now be known as Fernpaw. Fernpaw, you will be apprenticed to Stealthshadow, our best warrior. You may now rub noses." After this traditional ceremony, Icystar walked over to Fernpaw. "Fern! You did great! Now, I know you wanted me to mentor you, but it is time you go out on your own now. Explore the world without me. I won't be around forever, you know." "Siltstar?" Siltstar raised his head groggily to see Snowcurse sitting in front of him, her milky white eyes staring at the ground "Snowcurse. What's wrong?" "I got lonely and scared. C-Can I stay here for the night?" "Of course!" Siltstar rolled on his belly and made room for her. Snowcurse smiled and settled beside him with a small sigh. SIltstar nuzzled her gently. He had found Snowcurse in the forest when she was a kit. The current leader at the time named her Snowcurse because of her eyes. He had treated her like his own sister ever since and loved her even more fiercely ever since she was made a warrior. "Stealthshadow, take good care of my little Fern, I-" Fernpaw interrupted her. "I'm not little! I'm an apprentice now!" Fernpaw puffed out her chest proudly. Icystar chuckled. "Anyways, as I was saying, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my Fern. Take good care of her." Icystar finished. Stealthshadow bowed his head in respect. "Of course, Icystar. You have my word that I will face anything to keep Fernpaw alive for you," Stealthshadow replied. "Even death." He rolled over to show his fluffy belly, as a deep sign of respect. Stealthshadow does not fancy Icystar but has great respect for her. Ever since they were kits, Steathshadow has admired the way Icystar is so agile and fast but also has a leader-like aura about her.
