It had been yet another long, long night at work. It was now Saturday morning, and Akasha was ready to go home, take a long shower, and sleep forever.
What she got upon opening the door was trumpets and guitars blaring almost as loud as any show she'd been too. She groaned and rubbed her face. Was it Garrett this time? Morgan? Was it Danny again? If it was Danny again Akasha was going to destroy him. He knew better.
I used to think, baby, you loved me, now I know that it's true!
Akasha dropped her purse by her shoes and plodded into the living room. She rubbed at her forehead, her temples, the back of her neck. It was 8:00 in the morning! What person in their right mind would be playing music this loud?
But when she walked into the doorway to the living room, all the annoyance melted out of her. She smiled and leaned against the wall, resting her head on the hard drywall.
It was Danny, but he was dancing around with Max and Roxie, taking turns picking them up and spinning them around, jumping about and laughing.
I'm walking on sunshine, whoa~oah!
I'm walking on sunshine, whoa~oah, and don't it feel good!
Danny stumbled to a stop when he saw Akasha, curling his arm around Roxie's legs to support her mid-spin. Max turned around to see why the dancing had stopped.
"Mum! Mum! Dad was teaching us how to dance like you used to at your concerts! He said we're not allowed to say it because it's also a mean word."
Akasha laughed and nodded. "It can be, depending on how you use it."
Roxie waved excitedly at Akasha and Akasha took a few steps forward to scoop her out of Danny's arms.
"Hey, love," she said. She nuzzled against Roxie's forehead and Roxie giggled, wrapping her arms around Akasha's neck. She was starting to get heavy. How were her kids already five?
Danny turned the music down and Akasha put Roxie back on the floor. "Thank you," she murmured. Danny wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed their foreheads together.
"Of course. Sorry it was so loud when you got home. We lost track of time."
"It's okay. You guys stay down here and dance a while longer. It's time for me to get to bed."
