my name is della , i'm 16 years old and i live with my 20 year old brother vince . my dad used to hit me and my brother but my mom never really cared . But when i turned 13 my dad got into a fight at bucks and someone pulled a knife . but not long after that my mom killed herself . ever since then my brother has been taking care of me . i've lived in tulsa my whole like , but i wasn't a greaser or a social . we were too poor to be a soc , but too rich to be a greaser . my brother mostly hung out with socs because he thought he was too good for the greasers , but i hung out with whoever i felt like hanging out with and many people were against me for doing that . in tulsa you have to be a greaser or a soc , no in between . but i guess that's what made me different . my brother made money because he had 3 jobs . he worked at , DX , bj's and mostly bucks . he made pretty good money and that's how we kept our house . i went to tulsa high school and i was going into my junior year with my best friend johnny cade . johnny has been there for me as long as i can remember , we did everything together . we walked to school, studied , hung out , ate , anything you can imagine me and johnny did together .
