Despite what it appeared to be on the surface, being a hero was not the glamorous life everyone always expected. Being a hero meant long days, late nights, and bruises. Lots and lot of bruises.
For Shota Aizawa, it usually meant all three. Being a hero was exhausting...being a hero and a teacher side-by-side was begging for death by drowning in whatever source of caffeine he could find. Keeping his eyes open was hard enough considering the quirk given to him, but sleep deprivation on top of it was borderline torture.
This alone was probably the reason why he kept blinking a little more than he normally would in a sudden villain attack. Just one silly blink in the wrong moment, and one of them managed to get behind him and knock him into a wall. Not like it was the first time, but he was getting a little too old to be going through walls and his body could barely keep up. As much as he hated to admit it, he had to thank Present Mic for bailing him out that moment once word got around that he was caught in a fight. Still, despite making it out in tact, he was scraped and bruised up all over his back and shoulders. These were injuries a seasoned hero could shake off rather easily (albeit he had to admit it was a little easier to do a few years back), and he figured some sleep would make him good as knew. Though rather than sleep, he found a cold anti-bacterial spray being sprayed upon his bare back without much warning on how cold it was or how bad it was going to sting his cuts with a startled yelp.
Hiraka Kibe, his eighteen year old third year student, was determined to not allow him to sleep. With a glance over his shoulder, he met eyes with the pink haired princess behind him.
"You really need to stop doing that after every bandage! Any more on me and my blood is going to be pure hand sanitizer!" he complained.Hiraka rolled her eyes, continuing to slap bandages on his back, "You're supposed to be the grown up here, so bear with it!" she answered back, going on with her work despite the protests, "I wouldn't be here doing this if I could trust you to take care of your body."
"I take care of myself just fine-"
"You came to school with your face completely bandaged for three weeks back in USJ!" Hiraka protested, "At this point, you're lucky I'm not bounding you to a wheelchair just to keep an eye on you."Originally, this was not the intended nature of her visit. Aizawa was, in polite terms, rather slow when it came to matters of the heart, which meant that even after deciding to begin a relationship, it took her inviting herself over to Aizawa's apartment to initiate any kind of intimacy. However, this would from time to time lead them into one of their more common disagreements: confidentiality.
"You know that I like seeing you over here and all, but you really shouldn't have snuck over like this..." Aizawa said, still on his stomach as Hiraka went on with more bandages, "If someone from school saw you coming into my place this late at night..."
"For the millionth time, I'm careful!" Hiraka complained, spray in hand again, almost tempted to do it just for starting this conversation again, "I'm not so dumb that I'd let someone catch me coming over!"
"No one said anything about being dumb..." Aizawa protested, hanging his head in a defeated sigh, feeling the beginnings of the same conversation coming back around again, "It's easy to overlook if someone is watching.""I know, I know...turn off your teacher brain for two seconds, will you?" Hiraka whined, finally letting up off his back, "Do you really always need to be so paranoid about it? All I did was come over to help you considering your recent injuries."
"You and I both know that's definitely not why you came over," Aizawa called her bluff, knowing full well this whole first aid treatment began after Hiraka managed to get his shirt off him and noticed how bad his back looked.Hiraka turned a little red, caught with her hand in the jar, and glanced away, "Alright, fair...still, that doesn't change the actual subject here!" she protested, "Why didn't you bother getting patched up back when you finished up that fight?"
Aizawa finally managed to sit back up to answer her question, "I did...Recovery Girl took care of the worst of it. These are just the leftover scrapes and cuts from it is all," he assured, though Hiraka didn't look too convinced about it.
"These would have sent lesser men on a bed rest...you really need to consider your health more!" Hiraka scolded lightly, crossing her arms, "You spend enough time lecturing about it in class!"
"That's why they say those who can't do, teach..."
"That's not funny, Aizawa!" Hiraka complained again, "You keep making me worry! The more you warn me about how dangerous this job is, and the more beat up you get after each fight you get into, the more scared I get that you won't walk away from the next one!" With another pout, she shut the first aid kit she had nabbed from Aizawa's kitchen, "I wish you'd worry about that as much as you worry about us getting caught together!"
