Princess Duties Ch.1

Fire, there is fire everywhere, things are destroyed because of it. You see each kingdom's flags torn and dirty. Walking around, you tried to understand what has happened to the beautiful view you once loved. Heading back to your kingdom, you see everything that you grew up with, burned to ash and broken to rubble.

Entering the palace, you have flashbacks of your miserable childhood of being unable to have fun and freedom like the rest of the children in the kingdom. As a child your father would make you take lessons to perfect being a civilized princess. You shake yourself out of your thoughts and went up the stairs. You see a figure facing the throne, then you noticed a red puddle that is coming from your father's lifeless body on the ground. You gasped loudly then hid, you heart beat was so loud you could've sworn he heard. But the figure never moved, it just stood there, staring at your father's dead body. In this time you tried to memorize details about him but the only thing you could see are his black hair and ears. You took a notice on the shape of his ears, they were kinda elf like. You saw one more thing, you saw water droplets coming from his face.

You felt something slipping from your neck, as you look down you see your necklace hit the floor. The figure heard that for sure. As he turned, around you felt like you were falling, a hole opened in the ground right below you making you fall backwards. The hole was pitch black and the only light source was the hole you fell from. You kept falling for about 2 minutes then you hear a voice, it was muffled so you couldn't make out any words. And then you hear the voice again.

"Chia, wake up" a voice called out to you.

You look around for the owner of that voice but all you saw was black. The voice belonged to a male, you didn't recognize the voice. You hear the voice again but it sounded different than the one before this time you knew who it was. You reach your arm out to where you heard it was coming from. Then you felt your body being pulled quickly towards that direction. You head to another light source that you didn't see before, it's too bright that you have to close your eyes. You hear the voice one again.

"Chia, if you don't wake up I'm going to eat all of your mint chocolate chip ice cream!" The voice exclaimed.

My eyes snapped open adjusting to the brightness. Looking at the surroundings to figure out where I was I saw Maya, my best friend and I remembered where I was.

"You need to stop hiding from your responsibilities chiaaaa" Maya said.

"I just missed my mom so I went to visit where she would always take me." Chia replied.

My mother died while I was still young, an assassin from the Capricorn kingdom was sent to kidnap me and take me to Capricornia (I don't know what to call it) and hold me hostage so they can blackmail my father. Before they could even take me, Mother tired to hold him off as long as she could. The guards got here a bit too late though. I saw my mother get murdered with my own eyes. The guards caught the assassin and interrogated him to find this information. That didn't stop me from having nightmares about my mother's death.

My father was worried about my well being so he let me have company. My maid had a daughter around my age at the time and she would always come to cheer me up. I refused at first, but I got used to her company and warmed up to her. Since then we've been best friends. And she was always like a mother figure to me, she's always worrying about the little things and my responsibilities as a princess. But I still wouldn't change her for anyone else. I love Maya with all my heart.

" But this is too far out of the kingdom, it isn't safe." Maya stated as a matter of factly.

" Nobody even goes here though" chia shoots back.

"It can still be dangerous..." Maya said. "Your father wants you back at the palace, in the meeting room."

You sighed but still didn't move from your spot.

"Chia you have to go to the meeting, you are the king's daughter." Maya told you.

"Okay okay I'm goinggggg..." You get up from the grass you were laying in, walking to the palace with Maya you didn't notice that your necklace fell of and laid in the spot you were just in.
