Radiance comes in many forms.
For him, it's a well of kindness, of honesty and selflessness. His words of comfort and his willfulness to help with without pay. He makes up for his lack of tact with a smile that lights those up around him.
And even when he falters, his light does not go out. Not when cold steel pierces, not when bitter death bites. When the reaper calls his name, he does not answer. For the world needs him and calls just as loud. And she offers her hand for the taking.
So, he takes it.
He lives.
