Ugh.

It was only a few months into senior  year and it was becoming clear to Kyle Broflovski that he was gonna be ugly forever. He couldn't blame it on his youth or that he was "growing into his face", as his mother put it. No, Kyle was just an ugly kid. All of his friends were pretty ugly, but everything he hated about his face was multiplied by a thousand whenever he stood next to anyone else. It sucked.

The most obvious thing he hated was his nose. It was a standard Roman nose, one he inherited from his parents, and his parents' parents, and those parents before. Little kids usually don't have big noses, and his nose wasn't big or anything, but it was definitely bent and twisted. The amount of jokes he heard on a daily basis about the Jew having a funny looking nose made him go insane.

Then there was his acne. He started breaking out as soon as seventh grade rolled around, and ever since then it's only gotten worse. Cystic acne, whiteheads, blackheads, the works, and no acne treatment helped. They mainly grouped around his hairline and the side of his jaw, but there was a few on his nose. They were annoying and kind of gross, but there was no way he would resort to makeup.

He also had these weird scars around his mouth. It was probably because he got his mouth sewed to an Asian guy's asshole like five years ago but whatever. That's a story for another time.

The point is, Kyle was ugly.

He dated girls sometimes, and by sometimes that meant like every other year, but he was still ugly. No one ever dated him for his looks, to be honest, and no one should've dated him at all. He sucked, or at least that how he felt.

But no matter what, no matter how ugly he felt or how ugly he actually was, he had a low percentage.

Kyle Broflovski was blessed with a 19% GHOST score. What was GHOST? It was the Government for Housing and Operation in States and Territories, the main society that ran the GHOST test. What's the GHOST test? It's when you come out of the womb and they take a little blood sample. They run it through their lab and send you your percent a week later.

Being a 19% meant that he was low risk for committing crime and just generally being a dangerous member of society. The government developed this program in order to predict criminals before they even learn how to walk.

Kyle had studied the graphs, the lists, the "percentage guide" that his parents were given in the hospital room. From what he gathered, those born 1-20% lived mostly average, almost upstanding lives. They would be treated with respect as they could be trusted (Nobody could be given a score of 0% because there was always a chance someone could go nuts). If you wrote that your percentage was below a 20%, you had a high chance of getting into most colleges.

21-50% were completely average. The ones around 50% are given more care and placed into programs in the off-chance that they do become dangerous. Most of his friends fell into this range. It offered little to no perks, but you didn't have to endure anything too bad.

After 50%, life gets a bit more strained. 51-80% are required to be put into programs and can't go to college. They also have extremely hard times getting jobs and are treated worse than their lower percentage counterparts.

Once a child reaches a percent past 80%, they aren't considered children anymore, but rather property of the state. There are two options: They can either be put into a facility to be constantly surveyed, similar to a prison, or they can live in hiding, which is highly illegal. The highest percentage Kyle ever knew was 89%, and it was only heard in rumors. Higher than that and police officers will literally come to the baby's crib and forcibly remove it from the house.

Sometimes, like in Kyle's case, he felt pretty well off. The score seemed to reflect his views and his upbringing. He had no problem with his score, and why should he?
