'I don't have much to give but, I don't care for gold. What use is money when you need someone to hold'

He watched as you smiled, laughed, your eyes shining with joy as you swung your hand linked to his. Kagami Taiga. He hung back, his arms laying limply at his sides as he followed you two as you left the school building.

He couldn't help but stare as you hugged Kagami goodbye. He forced a small smile on his face as you waved and smiled at him before running into your house. Sure, he was on the receiving end of your smiles and greetings but he never got any hugs or kisses on the cheek. No, he never got your affectionate attention. No matter how much money he had in his pocket it was useless when it came to love.

He knew he didn't have much to offer, apart from his families riches but, you weren't the type of person to love him because of something so material. You could never be interested in someone who didn't exist, who lived and breathed in the coldness, loneliness, of the shadows.

'Don't have direction I'm just strolling down this road, waiting for you to bring me in from out the cold'

He didn't even notice Kagami leaving as he blankly stared ahead unintentionally ignoring his farewell. He continued the trek to his own home not once paying attention to where he was going.

A few droplets of water escaped through the clouds and made its way towards his open palm.

Finally aware of his surroundings, he realised he was alone and sighed tiredly. The familiar pang of loneliness stabbing him in his heart as he noticed he had strayed down the wrong path.

'You'll never know the endless nights, the rhyming of the rain'

Walking home, he seemed to be lost in his thoughts as he easily ignored the rain pouring down on him.

Why?

He was his best friend yet, he couldn't help but feel jealous. It consumed him, etched itself into his heart, staining it green. He tried so hard to conceal it that it started to become painful. Was it just them he wanted to hide it from, or was it himself?

'Or how it feels to fall behind, and watch you call his name'

From the calling of his name, to the kisses on his cheeks. He couldn't help but clench his fists in anger just thinking back to all the times you done this, none of those times doing it to him.

This wasn't like him. Where did the calm, collected, seemingly emotionless Kuroko disappear to? The answer was simple. He had gotten lost, fallen so endlessly in love with you that his emotions took control, his personality swallowed by its black hole.

'Pack up and leave everything, don't you see what I can bring'

He had caught himself staring at your luscious H/C locks as they tumbled down your back. He could see his hand reaching out on its own accord to touch your hair.

His face flushed as he caught himself and he looked around the classroom to see if anyone had actually noticed him. Of course they wouldn't. However there was one person who decided to turn around and look at him right at that moment.

He heard him snort and stifle his laughter. "Tch. Why don't you just tell her already?!"

"I don't know what you're talking about, Kagami-kun," he replied.
