*Narrator's POV*

The girls' Uber pulled up at the dance complex. They all went in together and inside were about 20 to 30 other girls. A young girl holding a clipboard came up to them immediately, speaking in a thick Jersey accent, "Names and categories?"

"Dominique Franco and Denise Mendoza for dance, Qadira Trevelyan for acting," Denise replied.

The young woman checked off their names then looked at Kenia, "What about her?" she asked.

"Oh she's not auditioning. She's here for emotional support, can she stay?" Qadira asked eagerly.

The woman sighed deeply. "Whatever, I genuinely don't care. Just don't be a bother kay hun?" she said that more like a demand than a request. "唉,要我对付这群儿就该给我多点钱啊。" she muttered under her breath.

"那与其在这儿埋怨,不如找份能赚更多的工作吧!真没礼貌。" Qadira replied. The young woman looked shocked, but shot a death glare at her then walked away.

"What the hell was she saying?" Kenia asked.

"She was being a bitch and said she should be paid more if they wanted her to deal with bitches like us,"

"Wow." they all said in unison.

*Denise's POV*

I gotta hand it to these people, they really nailed the whole diversity thing. There were girls from all ethnicities and body types. Suddenly I don't feel so out of place, I don't know what I was expecting to be honest.

A man then announced for all dancers to stay in this studio and for the actors to go to another room. So we said goodbye to Qadira for now. She'll text us if she happens to audition early so then Kenia can get over there to watch hers before ours.

We were then divided into groups of 5. There were 4 groups in total and we would all be taking turns learning the choreography together. They would also be eliminating girls after each session. I looked over at Dom, who was in another group. We made eye contact and both of us were nervous. What if we don't make it? What if one of us makes it?

"Hey, it's okay to be nervous, but trust me once the music starts you'll feel better," a young blonde tapped on my shoulder. "I'm Kiabeth, you can call me Kia. What's your name?"

"I'm Denise, and thanks for the advice. It's my first audition ever," I said.

"Oh no way! Dude it's actually so fun, you meet a lot of cool people, and you gain experience. Just watch out cuz some people are too competitive and they get nasty," Kia warned.

"Oh shit, anyone here you know is like that?" I asked.

*Dom's POV*

Denise isn't in my group so we can't talk to each other. She seems to be doing fine, she's talking to a really pretty blonde girl in her group. Maybe I should try talking to some of the people in my group, I thought.

I looked over at the girl standing next to me, she had medium length brown hair and piercing blue eyes. "Hey, is this your first audition?" I asked.

The girl looked me up and down. "No." she replied coldly. Okay, so we are NOT off to a good start.

"Oh okay, um, what's your name?"

"Ziena."

"Oh that's so pretty! Where are you from?"

She side-eyed me before responding, "Egyptian, and thanks. I'm not here to make friends so please stop asking me questions."

I was taken aback by her reaction. I was just trying to be nice to her. "Damn okay someone broke a nail today," I muttered under my breath. She must've heard me because I caught her scowling at me from the corner of my eye.
