Jessica’s P.O.V
Like Daisy, the night in the park had got us worried… we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t want to tell anyone, because she told us not too. That man was scary, I didn’t want to get on the bad side of him!
Flashback…
The door rang and Dan jumped up to answer. “Daniel!” My mum scoffed, “What have I told you! Your 6! Your too little to open the door! Let me, daddy, Jess or Daisy answer okay?”
“Yes mummy!” He replied and went to play with his Lego. Daisy and I ran down the stairs hoping it was Alicia or Nicole.
“Hello, is Jess or Daisy there?” Said Nicole standing at the door with Alicia.
“Hello Nicole hunny, hello Alicia dear, I’ll just get them” She turned around and jumped to find us too lurking behind her.
“Can we go to the park mum?” I asked, “Pretty please?” I batted my eyelashes and Daisy had a puppy dog face on. Mum thought for a second.
Be back by 6! That’s when teas ready and your friends are more than welcome to join us!” She smiled as we thanked her and headed over to Hall Park.
“Hey, I found an awesome tree the other day when I took, Jade my little sister to the park! She was looking for acorns and I found the most amazing tree! It was like it was made to sit on!” Nicole exclaimed.
“Hey we should all bring our sibling to the park together! Dan loves the park, and obviously Jade seems to as well, Liss does Arianna (Alicia’s sister) like the park?” I asked.
“Yeah! She loves it! Let’s go find that tree!” Alicia laughed.
“Huzzah!” Daisy yelled and we all laughed, “What? I read it in history or something!” She said grinning. Once we got to the tree we all got ourselves comfortable, hidden in the leaves, good job Alicia didn’t wear her bright orange t-shirt! We talked about school and we were interrupted by a scream.
“No, dad please! I haven’t done anything wrong!” screamed a familiar voice.
“No you little prat!” An older, drunk voice yelled, “You lost me Claudia! YOU LOST ME MY LOVE”
“No please! I didn’t make mum leave!” she cried in protest. I was about to jump down but Nicole stopped me and shushed me.
“Dad, no, your drunk! Just put down the drink and put your belt back on!” The voice begged in a whisper. We heard a loud smacking noise, a wince and an evil laugh.
“That’s what you get for ruining my life!” I was leaning forward listening and trying to see what was happening, I went too far forward and fell down onto Nicole’s branch.
“Ouch!” I moaned. I heard a gasp, something metal jingling and a glass smash.
“Don’t bother coming home, Katie!” He slurred before running away.
“Katie!?” Alicia and Daisy said in unison. All I could hear was jumpy sobs. We got down from the tree and I winced, obviously I had caught my ankle in the branches.
Daisy got closer to the girl with a blonde mess hiding her face. The girl sat up revealing a tear stained face with a bloody arm. The glass shattering was a pint glass and the metal was a belt.
“Please do…don’t tel…tell any.. one, please” The girl I had now identified as Katie.
“Come home,” Daisy said softly, “We can help you!”
“Yeah,” I agreed, “Please Katie, your ‘dad’” I said doing quotation marks, “Could be sent away forever for child abuse” Nicole looked hesitant and Alicia looked angry. They were about to speak but Katie interrupted
“Look, I haven’t been to school because my dad doesn’t want to s…see the b…b…belt marks and b..bruises,” She spoke still in tears. “But pl..please don’t tell anyone, I don’t want to go to a children’s home!”
She ran off, we tried to run after her but we couldn’t find her, like she had disappeared.
**End of flashback**
I was laying in my bed thinking about the park event and Daisy was writing her diary entry of a character of a book we’re reading in English.
“I think we should tell Mum” I slipped, Katie looked so terrified, I couldn’t help but feel guilty that we saw what happened and we could make it stop but chose not to, for Katie’s sake… But if Katie’s our sister, she wouldn’t have to go to a home, she could live with us, right?
“Jess, it’s not that simple. No one will know where that man is or who he is, we’re only guessing it was Jimmy! And we don’t know a flying jellybean where Katie is and I’d doubt we know where Katie is. We can’t go and look because we’re not aloud out because we were half an hour late last night! You know how mum is with family dinners!”
I sighed. “I’m going downstairs, I’m bored”
“M’kay” Daisy replied facing back to her laptop. I have to tell mum, I have too!
Oooh! Poor Katie! What will happen, will Jess tell her mum? Will it end happy ever after? Only I shall know! MWAHAHAHA! :D Over and out x
