Slowly waking up all I hear is beeping and footsteps from outside. Am I dead? Why do I feel like I got hit by a bus? Where am I? Where's James? Where's my dad's? Opening my eyes I noticed I was in a hospital room, hooked up to ivs, bruises up and down my body. How did I not die after that car hit me? The doctor walks in with my dad's "Lavayah is a very lucky girl, after being hit by the car she only ended up with three broken ribs, a broken leg, bruises and scrapes" I try falling asleep while they talk. I wake up 4 hours later "Lavayah thank God your okay" my dad's kiss my forehead. Oxygen tubes in my nose "w-w-what happened" I asked "how long have I've been asleep" I added "you saved your brother by pushing him out of the way of a car. You didn't move fast enough and got hit. You've been unconscious for 2 weeks, we thought we lost you forever." Tears from the pain I lay there staring at the ceiling cause that's all I can do. I can't move because my ribs, I can barely breathe, i'm pretty sure I won't make it. Days after days James and my uncle come to say hey and hang out with me to make me feel better. My dad's have never left the hospital since I got here, I never see them sleep. The doctor or nurse come in every hour to check my blood pressure, ivs, and give me pain killers. It sucks being in the hospital, all the noises, I can barely sleep. TV helps sometimes pass the time along. After a month of being in the hospital I asked the doctor if there was any kids my age and to see if they'd like to come to my room and hang. It worked the doctor asked 3 girls to keep me company. Cj, Lily, and Erin became close friends of mine. Cj was in for heart failure, but she's a strong fighter. Lily was in for cancer, it was so small i'm sure the doctor's can help her. Erin was in for breathing problems. I was finally happy in the hospital, after the doctor gave me friends I smiled everyday. Til one day my ribs were fine I was going home tomorrow. Nurse Linda helped me walk around, it was fine til we got outside. I couldn't breath, I felt my eyes rolling back I actually thought that today was the day I lost my life. I remember doctor's running over to put me on a bed to take me to the operating room fast. My dad's crying in the waiting room "we're about to lose our girl", James not understanding what's going on because he's so little. It was such a terrifying day. After an hour of helping me they told my dad's I was strong and fighting for my life. Oxygen tank pumping air into my lungs feeling the pain in my chest as every breath moves. My head spinning as I see bright lights shining in my eyes "Lavayah is waking up" the nurse said to the doctor in the hallway. Coughing as blood drips out "we need to get in x-ray right away" the doctor told the nurse. Laying down I could barely keep my eyes open, I felt dead but alive. They x-rayed my chest to see why blood was dripping from my mouth. My ribs didn't heal right and is putting pressure on my heart causing blood. "She needs emergency surgery right away" the doctor yelled as the hospital bed stared moving. I was being pushed from one room to the next as the nurses prepared me for surgery. Feeling my eyes get heavy I fall asleep as surgery starts.
