   Alex looked back at me for a second. His head movement strayed my eyes away from Gabriel. Alex looked back at Gabriel and asked,"You live around here?"
"Yeah.Yeah." He replied. I didn't feel convinced that his words were true. He was so hesitant of his answer. "You guys are from the, um, the camp, right?" Zhen Zhen came over but instead of words coming out of her mouth she just stood on a rock, taking in the view.
   "She's not much of a talker." Alex explained.
   "Long story short we're from the camp and I'm gonna go." I was about to walk off until I heard Dariush's voice and saw him approaching us.
   "You know what? You know... You know what? That was a lucky punch. Lucky punch. Yeah, you know, I haven't acclimated to the altitudes yet. So my reflex's are kinda subpar."
   With those finishing words we heard loud booms. We started to back up and I accidentally bumped into Gabriel. I looked up at him and blushed. "Sorry, I'm Toni by the way." IDIOT, THIS IS NO TIME TO GET FLUSTERED, WE MIGHT BE GETTING NUKED!
   "It's okay." The booming didn't stop from there, it kept on going.
   "What the hell was that?" Dariush asked the group.
   "I think if we knew we wouldn't be thinking the same question you just asked." I stated. Almost if on cue our phones began to send out an alarm.
   "What does it say." Gabriel asked, seeing as he doesn't have a phone on him.
   "It's the emergency broadcast system. 'All civilians are to evacuate metropolitan areas immediately. Under no circumstances approach any unknown aircraft.'" I read aloud.
   "It's the next 7-Eleven." Dariush said with fear in his voice.
   "There was no 7-Eleven and I doubt that this will come anywhere close to what you're talking about."
   "We gotta get back to the van." Alex said. I wasn't completely against it and it sounded like a good idea. "Anyone know the way?"
   "I do." Gabriel spoke out. No one questioned how he knew. "Follow me."
   "Okay, woah woah. Slow your roll, Dora the Explorer, all right, this is my clique. Soldiers, out!" Dariush added a little scoff to the end of his sentence. He began walking in the opposite direction as me, Zhen Zhen, and Alex followed behind Gabriel.
   "Let's go." Gabriel said.
   "I'm right behind you, if this is the beginning of the apocalypse I don't think I'd like to be less by someone who thinks 9/11 is called 7/11." Dariush heard my words and turned around. He followed after us and we eventually found ourselves running through the forest. I couldn't tell if my hands were sweating from running or being in the presence of Gabriel. One thing I knew for sure was that it was making it harder to grip onto my board.
   "Everyone's gone!" Alex yelled, informing all of us.
   "Assholes." Dariush added.
   "We're in deep shit now." I said to go along with the other previous sentence.
   "Probably got the emergency signal and went back to camp." Alex told us all. Another loud boom was heard.
   "Oh! What. The fu-" Dariush said pulling out his phone.
   "Looks like explosions, in the upper atmosphere." Alex was definitely something else. Way smarter than the rest of us. We all started pulling out our phones when Gabriel said,
   "Call and have them send the van to pick you up."
   "It's dead! I had 90% two seconds ago. Piece of shit Boost Mobile." Dariush informed us.
   "Wait mines not turning on either." I said looking at the group.
   "Mike's dead too." Alex said which basically meant we were stranded. We heard 'wooshing' that seemed to be getting louder every second. We looked up and the sky started to become a different color. We all were watching the sky when jets skimmed the water in front of us.
   "Oh my God, it's Independence Day." Gabriel said. Maybe he wasn't the brightest.
   "It's June Gabriel!" Dariush yelled in his direction. "Oh wait," Dariush added," maybe North Korea's invaded!"
  "Yeah, because that sounds great, we should all be safe." I said with clear sarcasm in my voice.
   Dariush looked to Zhen Zhen," Zhen Zhen, call it off!" Zhen Zhen just stared at him like he was an idiot.
   "We just need to wait here until the adults realize they left us and come back." Alex planned.
   "Alex, what if they never come back?" I replied to his idea.
   "I'm gonna die here with you losers? I never even had sex before!" Dariush said. That should not be his top priority right now. We stood there in silence and Dariush stopped pacing. "Ima clear that up. I had sex.. I had sex before, I mean... I haven't had sex with two girls at once. That's what I mean." Dariush turned to Alex," I told you I had sex 'cause..."
   Alex replied with a confused,"no." I just furrowed my eyebrows looking at him. Until I finally spoke up.
   "We're about to possibly die and all you can think about is your nonexistent sex life?!"
   "Alright, hey, look. We're not gonna die! It's probably just a forest fire. We gotta get going, bears out here can be crazy." Gabriel stepped up and said.
   "Woah! Woah! Okay, slow your roll. Did you just say bears? I don't do so well with bears, man. I'm not trying to get DiCaprio'd up in here!" Dariush jumped in.
   "Idiot, no one does bears." I said, intruding in on the conversation.
"Oh woah. Uh... ask Werner Herzog. Grizzly man who lived with those things for years, so check that out."
   "Did you watch the end of that movie?" Gabriel asked.
   "Did I watch.. yeah, I watched- - No, I didn't."
   "No, dude. Okay, stop. Gabriel's right. Black bears are opportunistic carnivores. We're not gonna survive out here in the wilderness through the night." Alex said, finally joining in to stop the unusual conversation.
   "So why are we standing around here acting like free bear food, let's go! Come on!" I said, wanting to get to safety as quickly as possible. We all made it back to the camp panting. It looked broken and deserted.
