“Wow, that’s already better.” Louis glared at the curly lad who was sitting on a counter, watching Louis try to make food. Ever since he discovered that his new ‘Co-captain’ couldn’t cook, he just couldn’t resist to make fun of him.
”No, Louis I mean it, we can see the improvement from that grilled cheese on Monday.”
And there it was, that cheeky grin again that got Louis confused because at that very moment, he didn’t know if he wanted to slap him hard in the face or just ran to him and crashed his lips on his.
“I don’t think we can actually call it a grilled cheese, more like two broiled slices of bread with half of the cheese burning out of the sandwich.” Niall shouted from the drive-in window, Zayn laughing along from his place next to Liam at the ordering counter.
The resto was empty except for a middle-aged man waiting for the hot-dog Louis was trying to prepare him. It was Thursday and on Thursdays and Fridays, the boys had the closing shifts which meant they’d work until 9 pm.
”But seriously Louis, who applies to work as a cook when they can’t even make an edible grilled cheese ?” Zayn suddenly asked as the man left with his hot-dog.
Liam went to the door to put up the ‘closed’ sign while Niall was struggling to take off his headset. It seemed like it was stuck somewhere and the Irish boy was getting pissed at the damn thing.
“Here, let me help you.” Zayn soothing voice calmed Niall who stopped cursing at the offensive item in his hair and Zayn played with the knotted string a few moment before he finally got it off. Niall looked up at him and smiled a little with a whispered ‘Thanks’ and Zayn took the device in his own hands to put it back on the shelf, his sparkling eyes never leaving the blond boy as he smiled back at him. Louis watched the both of them and knew something was up. Not only could he smell the love in the air, Louis noticed Liam rolling his eyes at the sight of the scene, almost like it was nothing unusual. Harry cleared his throat and Zayn turned around to look at Harry with a smirk, leaving a blushing Niall slightly behind. Oh yes, they were definitely hiding something from him.
”So, Mr. Grilled Cheese, are you gonna tell us your story ?” Niall giggled at the nickname Zayn gave him and suddenly, Louis felt all awkwardness gone.
”Well basically, my mom thought it was a good idea for me to get a job, you know, to develop my sense of responsability or other shit excuse. Really, she just wants me to pay for my phone bills but I can’t ‘cause I’ve spent all my recent economies on shoes. So yeah, here I am.”
”You spent all your money on shoes ?”
”Yeah, I fucking love shoes. I own a ton of Toms.” Louis didn’t care if he sounded gay. He actually wanted them to find out, so they could spill their secrets too.
”Mate, I’m not judging or being rude, just curious but- are you gay ?” Liam watched him with anxious eyes. He didn’t want to scare off or insult the newest addition to their team.
”What gave me away ?”Louis joked and any trace of tension disappeared as Niall’s laugh fill up the room once more. No one said anything though which caused Louis to worry a little.
”I mean, is everyone ok with it ? ‘Cause if anyone has a problem with me being-“
”I’m gonna stop you right now and tell we’d have a problem if you weren’t gay.” Liam smirked as he turned to watch the dark boy still quite close to the blond one.
”Actually, I’m the only straight one in the room.”
Thats was Liam.
Not Harry.
