Walking into school I kept my eyes trained on the ground. My feet knew exactly where to go and what to do in order to get to my locker. When I got to my locker I started putting in my combination but when I got two the second number I heard one of my friends calling my name. I whipped my head to the left to see Mia shouting my name.

“Elizabeth!” She called trying to get my attention. By now I was already switching out the books in my backpack for the books in my locker, trying to ignore her and all the stares we were getting. Mia was trying to weave her way through the crowds of teenagers that were all going the opposite way of her. “Elizabeth Kaylee York!” She yelled again.

When she called my name for the third time I looked her and gave her a bitter look that said to shut up. I am very shy and I don't like attention being on me. I was starting to get uncomfortable with all the stares. Mia finally made it over to my locker and shot me an apologetic smile.

“Sorry, I forgot.” I tried to give her my best evil eye but I ended up laughing because she was putting on her best puppy eyes. Her face looks really messed up when she does that. I can't stay mad at y friends for long. They are the reason I'm living today..

Anyways, Mia is a short, thin, brown eyed, brown haired girl. She is the best friend someone could have but she can turn into the bitchest bitch if you get on her bad side. She's not afraid to curse you out.

She is wearing a black skirt with a blue crop top that covered her belly. The skirt starts where the shirt stops. The skirt stops right above her knees. Mia also was also wearing the necklace her mom gave her before she died. Mia never took it off. It was a gold necklace with a diamond incrusted heart frame engraved with the letters "MIA."

Mia's mom died when Mia was 11 years old. Mia was devastated. She never took the necklace off, besides when she goes in the water. She takes amazing care of it, and when she does take it off, she keeps it in a safe place. The necklace was the only thing she as left of her mom. She doesn't have a dad either. He left her mom before Mia was born, so Mia lives with her grandparents.

Looking at Mia's appearance, then down at my own, I realized how weird I looked wearing a long sleeve black shirt with gray skinny jeans. Outside it was about 97 degrees Fahrenheit. We live in Washington so it isn’t hot out very often. Mia was about to ask me something but was cut off by Lexi and Anna walked up to us.

“Heyy bitchesss.” Shay said smiling brightly. She has blonde hair with sparkling blue eyes. Today she is wearing white high wasted shorts with a black crop top.

Anna – which is another one of our small group of friends – is a red head, like me, with dark blue eyes. We look a lot alike except my eyes are a lighter blue with specks of hazel in them. We defiantly don't look like twins but some people do think we are sisters. Even though her birthday is only a month before mine.. Sometimes I wish I was her sister. Her mom is the kindest and sweetest adult I have ever met.

“Hi.” Mia and I answered at the same time. Mia and I looked at each other then burst out laughing. Soon after Shay and Anna joined in.

Before anything else was said Asher, Shay's boyfriend, walked up to us and but his arm around her. He is like a brother to me. My blood related brother died in a fiery car crash a few years ago. I was so sad. He meant everything to me. He was my protector, my best friend. I miss him so much. Ash knows he can never replace my blood brother but he is still my brother nonetheless.
