The next day, we all went to the fair. Bill, Bev, Ben, Bree (I know that I'm doing first person, but for the sake of all the B names), and Stan were looking at the missing posters. We were looking at the poster of Edward Corcoran who was last seen July 1st. Three days ago. I looked behind me to see Richie playing a tuba. I shook my head and turned back to the poster. "They say they found part of his hand all chewed up near the Stan pipe." Stanley told us.
"He asked to borrow a pencil once." Ben told us. Bill then walked up to the poster and flipped it up. Underneath was a picture of. Betty Ripson.
"It's like she's been forgotten because Ed Corcoran's missing." I said.
"Is it ever going to end?" Stan asked. I then heard more of the horn sound and looked over at Richie who was trying to keep the horn from the horn player. The band mate got it out of Richie's hands.
"What the fuck dude?" Richie said to him.
"What are you guys talking about?" Eddie asked, showing up with two ice cream cones, licking one.
"What they always talk about." Richie said, walking up and grabbing the other cone.
"I actually think it will end. At least for a little while." Ben said.
"What do you mean?" Bev asked.
"So I was going over all my Derry research and charting all the big events. The iron works explosion in 1908, the Bradly gang in '35, and the black spot in '62, and now kids being...." Ben trailed off, looking at Bill and I. I realized what Ben was trying to say. "I realized these things happen-" I cut him off.
"Every 27 years." I finished.
A little bit later, we moved to where more of the fair was and out of the alley. "Okay so, let me get this straight, IT comes out from where ever and eats kids for a year, and then what? It just goes into hibernation?" Eddie asked, sitting on his bike. Eddie, Bill, and Richie where sitting on their bikes. While Bev, Stanley, Mike, Ben and I where sitting On the bench. I was sitting in between Stan and Mike.
"Maybe it's like, what do you call it? Cicada's?You know? The bugs that come out every 17 years." Stanley said.
"My grandfather said this town is cursed." Mike said. We all just looked at him. "He says all the bad things that happen in this town are because of one thing. An evil thing that feeds off of the people of Derry."
"But it can't be one thing. We all saw something different." Stan said.
"But what if it is?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Bill asked.
"Think about it, we all saw it at different times. What if it is the same thing, but, it knows what scares us the most and it turns into that to scare us?" I said.
"I-I-I saw a lepor." Eddie said. "He-he was like a walking infection."
"But you didn't." Stan said. "Be-Because it isn't real. None of this is. Not Eddie's lepor, or Bree and Bill seeing Georgie, or-or-or the wo-women I keep seeing."
"She hot?" Richie asked. We all just looked at him.
"No Richie! She's not hot!" Stanley yelled at him. Richie looked down in disappointment. "Her face is all messed up." I realized he was referring to the picture in his dads office.
"Like the women in the painting." I said. Stan nodded.
"None of this makes any sense. There all like bad dreams." Stanley said.
"I don't think so, I know the difference between a bad dream and real life, okay?" Mike asked.
"What'd you see? You saw something too?" Eddie asked.
