He woke up before dawn. The horses were restless. Something wasn't right. He rose and tiptoed quietly down the hall, careful not to wake his mother. She was exhausted after last night.Adrien's POV
I woke up to the thought of my mother lingering in my playful mind. I felt like I had just sprinted a distance of forty kilometers due to my now fully drenched body in sweat. It was as though someone threw a bucket of water over my head. My heart was racing in my chest that was reluctantly painful and I could hear it pounding in my ears. With the morning sun rising and horses making a noise, I had to stand up and take care of the horses like my mother would. If mother were here she would have calmed them down by now. I'm not used to waking up so early but she would wake up even before dawn broke out. By the time I would wake up, the roosters have already notified me that it's morning and by that time, I would look out the window and I would see my mother with her golden hair and blue overalls with her black cowboy boots already by the stables, probably brushing Ace's silky black hair. It has been a week since I came back to my mother's ranch. I decided to come here as a get away from the real world. Father said he couldn't come due to his "fashion schedule". I don't like making assumptions but I just think Father misses mom as much as me. Like, who won't miss Mother, she always had such a glowing essence, her emerald eyes, whenever she looked at something or someone, you could see strength in her eyes but also a caring heart. Oh the way I missed the days whenever I cried and she would ask me my most favorite question in the world, "Who do those eyes belong to?". Oh Mother the way I need you as much as ever.
As I walked to the stables to feed the horses, I took my time knowing that the horses were keen to eat but I had to take my time today. The thoughts of Mother became worse as the days went by. I look at the earthly ground, the rocks and stones, the green grass, all on the ground. Mother loved her grass green. "I prefer it to be greener than the other pasture" She would always say that. I kneeled down just to feel the grass on my knees again. We would always lay on the grass while stargazing. We would have a competition to see who knew the most constellations. She always won. I won by luck. Those were the days, even Father used to come with us at times but now he barely comes. At least I have Natalie to keep me company or just to keep an eye on me to report to Father that I'm still on my diet. Whenever Mother was here, we never bothered about what I ate. Talking about eating, I should be feeding Ace.
I have completed the chore of feeding the horses and now I have time to walk around the grapevine valley. As time passed and I had reached my destination, I could finally take a break. All the thoughts about my mother is still floating endlessly in my playful mind. I decided to take a little horse riding to help ease my mind. I decided to take a path and let it lead me wherever it goes. During my trip is when I met her, a women with raven blue hair, eyes that is as beautiful as the night sky. She may have looked beautiful and all but looks can be deceiving...
Marinette, her name was Marinette. A women with a very strong character. She may seem like an angel and sounded like one but definitely didn't act like one when she spoke to me," Hey watch where you riding that horse!" she said with her back towards me when she picked up her bag, then she faced me "Wait... " She looked at me for some time , her eyes filled with curiosity. "I know you from somewhere but where?" She finally broke the silence and study session. I dismouted Ace and looked directly at her "Adrien, Adrien Agreste.". I had to tell her who I was, those looks filled with curiosity, scared the heavens out of me. She didn't really looked pleased at all. "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be in Paris?" she asked. At first I was shocked how she knew that I was Parisian and I was a model but then again, my father was a very famous designer and I was his top model. "I'm taking a break from the busy life, now, why and how did you get here in the first place?" I asked. For the first time since I saw her, her eyes changed, from being completely being determined to a hint of sadness. "Oh well, uh, just walking..." she said. I could tell she was lying, she didn't look directly at me when answering me, she looked down at the ground and rubbed her hand. "Well clearly you not going to tell me the actual truth but I don't mind, do you want to come over for lunch?", I walked over to Ace and sattled on him and offered my hand to her waiting to see if she accepted my offer. She looked as if she would reject the offer but to my surprise she accepted it by taking my hand.
