⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Today!
It's Greg and I's first year anniversary together as a couple.
Like any other girl who believes in fantasies and happily ever after's, I've waited for this day all my life, well, since we became an official couple.
Because today is so special, I called my best friend, Chloe, to help me dress up for our date. We've booked a date on a fancy restaurant so basically, I have to dress fancy as well.
I glare at Chloe, who's so busy texting since she arrived here twenty minutes ago.
"Chloeee!" I whine, going through the stacks of dresses that piles my closet.
"I know your sister turns everyone on!" Chloe laughs, singing one of her favorite songs.
I roll my eyes and throw a purple dress at her. She dodge it just in time and the dress fell on the floor instead of her head. "I'm serious," I drawl out.
Chloe stands from where she's seated, on the foot of my bed, and walks toward my closet. It takes a while before she finally gets a black dress that's hanging from my closet and hands it to me.
"This," She says. "This will suit you real good."
As I'm wearing the tight yet classy dress that hugs my curves, Chloe sighs dramatically. "Aww, I can't believe it's yours and Greg's first anniversary together."
"Me too," I tell her honestly.
"Still, I'm so excited! Promise me you'll talk to me about how your date goes, okay?"
I nod and I take a look at myself in the mirror and smile. As I'm checking my face, Chloe tugs on my arm. "C'mon, I'll do your hair!"
I roll my eyes at my best friend. It seems like she's more excited about the date than I am.
I sit in front of my dresser, facing a large mirror. Chloe tucks my hair at the back, and heats the curling iron. "I'm truly happy for you, Annie." She says, breaking the silence that engulfs us and I know that she generally means it.
"You're the bestest friend I have ever had," I say, hugging her. This moment is too cheesy for my eyes, and I know she feels the same.
As on cue, she groans. "Ugh, enough of this cheesiness!"
I laugh. "Agreed!"
Chloe picks the curling iron and starts curling my hair in sections. While she's making my hair pretty, I'm applying foundation and minimal make up to it.
After she curled my hair, she checks my make up and gives me a brief nod. "There...Pretty as ever."
"Oh, stop it, you," I say, faking a British accent, and we end up laughing.
Still clutching her stomach, Chloe stands and wipes a stray tear out of her eye. Then she stares at me for a moment before saying, "Oh, I know the perfect shoes for it!"
A minute later, she returns with a blood red pumps and instantly, I know it's the pair of shoes I'm going to wear.
I hug her. "Thank you, Chlo."
"Any time."
Chloe bids goodbye but stays at my house, as I make my way to the fancy restaurant Greg and I agreed to go.
I pay the driver with a load of cash and step out of the cab. Walking towards entrance of the restaurant, a waiter holds the door open for me to step in. "Good evening, miss."
To which I return with a smile. I sit on our reserved table and wait for my lovely date, Greg.
As I sit and wait for him, I take in my surroundings and all the happy couples and almost instantly, I feel giddy.
