Waking up the next morning in the dorm was strange to me. It was an unfamiliar and the bed was super uncomfortable. My back has a slight ache due to the lousy springs in the mattress.
I groan as I push myself out of bed. Sitting up, I rub my eyes and run my hands through my hair, attempting to fix the mess. I stand up and walk over to my desk, checking my phone as it has been charging all night. My eyebrows come together when I realize the lack of notifications on the lock screen from Aubrey. I realize the time and notice it's only 6:45 am. I shrug and grab my things, heading to the communal bathroom down the hall from our room.
As I'm walking out of my room, I check across to see my roommates passed out in their beds still. Niall lays on his stomach, right arm hanging over the side of the bed, mouth wide open and small snores coming out of his mouth. Lou lays on his back, his left arm hanging off the bed a bit with his right arm over his eyes, almost like he's subconsciously trying to block out the slight sun rays coming through behind the curtains.
I shake my head, grabbing my key from the counter and head to the door. I quietly shut it behind me, making sure I don't slam it, as I know if I dare to disrupt either of their slumber, I won't hear the end of it.
I make it to the bathroom and go about my usual morning routine. Brushing my teeth, washing my face and emptying my bladder. Once I finish up, I start to head back to my room. As I walk back, I realize the lack of people awake at this hour. Then again, I've always been a morning person unlike the rest of the people in my life, so I really shouldn't be all that surprised.
Once I make it back to my room and put my stuff back, I start getting dressed. I pull out my usual black jeans, converse and a random t-shirt. My stomach rumbles and I decide to rummage through the lack of food we have in our small kitchen. I stumble upon Cocoa Puffs and settle on having some.
After two bowls of chocolatey-goodness and mindless scrolling through my phone, my roommates finally awaken from the dead around 7:30.
Niall comes out, eyes barely open and hair a mess on his head. He looks at me, his eyebrows coming together and looks at the clock on the microwave.
"Li, it's 7:30. How the hell are you already dressed and had breakfast?" He grumbles. I laugh as I watch him stumble towards me, snatching the cereal from me and pours himself a bowl.
"Did you really forget that your best friend likes to wake up early?" I ask sarcastically hurt. He rolls his eyes as he shoves a spoonful into his mouth.
"You're a freak Liam." I roll my eyes and continue scrolling through my phone. I sigh, locking it and look at the time; 7:37.
I stand up from my seat on the couch and head into my room, meeting Lou in-between rooms, looking slightly more awake than Niall did, but still tired.
I grab my books off my desk and shove them into my backpack, double checking to make sure I have everything I need for classes. Lou's voice startles me.
"Dude, it's just orientation. You don't need to bring your books today." He scoffs. I roll my eyes at him.
"You don't know that. They could change their minds and make us go to our classes." I attempt to defend my argument. I know it's lousy, and judging by the look on his face, he knows I know it is.
"This isn't high school anymore Payno. They're not just gonna change the plans cause they want to be assholes. Plus classes start in a few days. This is our time to settle in and get ready for that shit." I sigh, knowing that once in a blue moon, he's right. I scratch the back of my head and nod.
"You're right. I'm just nervous you know? Not just for classes just for everything." I look at my feet, because they suddenly have become the most interesting thing in the room.
