The wind tore at my hood and the long hair tucked underneath, threatening to blow my cover. Believe me, I love my waist-length, platinum blonde hair, but it's too light colored for a reconnaissance mission. I was high above the city, looking down at the trails of lights that lined the streets. I loved the fresh evening air, no matter how chilled. I caught myself daydreaming and pulled myself back to the present with a sigh. It was always the same. I go out every night on patrol and find nothing. I know Sensei is wise in having a night watch over the city, but I miss out on so much that happens during the day. I come back home late when Wu is asleep and when I wake up, he's gone. Half the time, he's not even there when I come home at night. I realize he is training a team of ninjas and that they've saved Ninjago multiple times, but I don't understand why I can't meet them. Even after defeating my father and his stone army, I still haven't been introduced. Soon, I'll take it into my own hands.
Hikari groaned beneath me.
"I know, I know, girl," I patted the dragon's neck lovingly, "I'm tired too, but watch doesn't end 'til dawn. Hang in there for me, okay?" When I first found Hikari, something just, I don't know, clicked. She was small and I could cradle her in my arms like a human baby. You could say she imprinted on me. This magical, fun-loving, speed demon of a dragon found a way to fill the holes in my heart. I could see the thin, pink line of sun on the horizon, signalling for us to return home.
(this is kind of a teaser just to introduce Shea. Hope you stick around for more!)
