Here we go!
It was lonely where you lived and you really wanted some fun in your life. Well not fun, but anything was better than your repetitive boring schedule. Knowing that, living smack dab in the middle of nowhere wasn't the best idea, because what else could you do on the countryside other than nothing, but it wasn't the worse either.
The air was cleaner, the scenery was lovely, and there wasn't any traffic in sight. It was wonderful, but it was also incredibly lonely. You had the old folk at the nursing home and a few stray cats who would visit every now and again, but that was about it. You figured they were searching for your grandma, who had left you her house in her will a few months ago.
Your parents didn't seem very close to her so she left it for you. She even left you a mountain of money so that made paying bills really easy. It was all you had left of your sweet old grandma so you tried your best to spend wisely, only leaving your house for food and work and rarely buying anything you want.
There was a town not too far away so you'd think you would have made friends, but they were... it's just not the type of crowd you wanted to hang with as they were closed minded. You didn't really like the people there, but that's mostly because you didn't get along with people your age. You only found happiness it talking to the elderly it seemed. They didn't judge you for your reclusive ways and if they did, they were very good at being silent about it. You liked that about them, but all the folks you liked lived in the nursing home while everyone else walked the planet.
The townsfolk... they just made you uncomfortable. The way the analyzed you and pitied you... You never wanted to experience that ever again. Unfortunately, you would have to go to town soon since you were running low on groceries so avoiding contact with people and becoming a hermit was impossible,
You hopped into your car, which was a fairly old pick up truck and drove to town.
The town wasn't small. They had a high school, a middle school, an elementary, and a community college and that really meant something. Most towns only have one or two schools and that was it. There was a small shopping center, many family owned diners, a skating rink, and a bowling ally. Of course, they were all dated, most buildings having been built in the sixties and seventies, but that was still pretty impressive for a backwoods town like yours.
Driving into town, you go to the grocers, which was family owned like every other business in the area.
The store was called Richardsons named after the head of the family, Henry Richardson. You didn't really like shopping there because you were pretty sure that their teenage son had a crush on you and that wouldn't be as much of a problem if he wasn't such a weirdo about it.
He looked like a lost puppy all the time. He had a habit of following you around the store with his nerdy friends and since you didn't like human interaction or attention, it made you feel uncomfortable. Especially since his friends seemed to have no manners.
You were nineteen years old, which was far too old for their seventeen year old son in your opinion. You preferred to date someone who was a little older than you anyway. And let's not forget his creepy pervert of a best friend Gregory. He was even worse.
If you were interested in anyone, it'd be Henry's other son, Davey. He was a little older than you and he was a total hunk, not that you'd ever say that to him. Even though he was handsome, he didn't seem very nice. Though his did show interest in you from time to time, offering to help you take your groceries to your car so he could flirt with you. He seemed to like putting his arm around your shoulders and whispering oddly sexy things in your ear.
Almost as much as he liked to tease you.
