The party

"I'm looking forward to it... Yes he's back from training, this second... I'll will... no, he's just staring at me... Because I was in charge for dinner and I forgot again... no, I appreciate it to talk to you... Alright... me too, take care as well." I hung up the phone and returned the glance of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was now standing in front of me.

"Who was that?" he wanted to know. He eyed me suspicious. Ever since Fernando phoned him that he will kill him if I got just a tiny little scratch, Cris got as protective as the blond Spaniard.

"Just Juanin. By the way he sends his best wishes for the first 'La Liga' match against Córdoba CF tomorrow. How was training?" I asked slightly amused by the look of the Portuguese. "Exhausting but now with Fábio back on track and with Toni and James in their perfect shape, I'm pretty sure that this we'll be an exciting season. Talking about it, Sergio wanted to know if you'd like to join us tomorrow evening after our first win. He wants to celebrate in this little pub in Toledo. I was never there before but he assured that it's a decent place so I'm comfortable with bringing you along."

I lifted my eyebrows at his words. "Ramos is pretty sure that you guys will win this match, huh?" I noted with a small grin. Cris just winked before he headed for the kitchen.

"Well, that's our Sergio. Whatever I'm quite hungry now, what's up for dinner?"

I swallowed as I hurried to the kitchen. I've forgotten to prepare something for dinner because I was at the phone with Juan the whole afternoon. "How about ordering something?" I suggested as Cris glared slightly annoyed in my direction.

He eventually just shrugged and took out his phone. "I'm on a diet you know?" he stated as he waited for the other end of the line to answer.

"Don't make yourself too comfortable, little Girl; we're heading to James' house." Cris scolded as he found me again on the couch with my phone on my ear.

"Shush" I hushed him to stop talking. "No not you, Señor Del Bosque that was just my roommate... Yeah, they offered me a big house in the footballer village but I don't like to be alone all the time... Yes, of course I am ready... Sure, I will send you the papers by tomorrow... Great, thank you... a nice evening." I ended the phone call and looked at the Portuguese winger.

"To Rodriguez, are you for real? I don't even know him. I just saw him once" I stated. "Don't worry he's a nice lad, and Isco, Gareth and I will be there as well. I just said I will bring along my girl and since Irina isn't at home, you'll be my Girl for tonight." I blushed slightly but eventually I nodded.

I hurried upstairs and dressed myself in a decent black dress and paired it with my dark pumps. Downstairs Cris waited already, he had changed into a light blue coloured V-neck shirt and beige pants. He looked gorgeous as always.

It was just down the road so we decided to walk the short distance. When the two of us climbed the stairs of the white painted house, James already waited at the door.

"I'm so happy that you could make it Cristiano." When he saw me he eyed me as if to remember if he had seen me before.

"James, that's Kathleen, our intern. She's staying with me for the next couple of months since Irina is still away and won't come back until December." Cristiano explained.

I exchanged a formal greeting with the newest signing of Real Madrid and then we were greeted by Gareth. "Kathleen, it's nice to see you again. I already believed that Cris had locked you up in his cellar because I barely saw you at the stadium the last couple of days." The Welsh winger joked. I just shook my head. He was right though I barely got to see the rest of the squad during my first couple of days in Spain.

As I passed the entrance I was greeted by almost the whole Madrid squad in the living room. "Do you have a party here?" I asked as ten footballers smiled in my direction.

"Almost, we decided that in honour of tomorrow's start of the new season, we could have a formal little celebration." James explained with his cute little smile.

The Colombian showed me his huge house in a little tour. During the trip I was greeted by couple of other players. Some of them I met for the first time that evening.

"Kat! How is Fernando doing? I never heard from him, since New York." Sergio shouted through the room as James and I came back to the living room where the main part of the squad made themselves comfortable. The Sevillan seemed to be drunk already.

"He's fine, I guess. The premier league already started and he wasn't in the starting eleven, so he was more than disappointed as Drogba joined the squad again. He will be benched quite a lot this season." I explained and the Defender nodded, suddenly sober again. We all remembered the incident in the United States just a couple of days ago all just too well.

It was silent for a moment until Gareth came along and brought me a cocktail. "Guys, you shouldn't get drunk tonight, you have an important game tomorrow." I said half heartily while I took a light slip of the green liquid.

"Don't worry I won't let them drink too much." I heard a familiar voice. Iker appeared behind me and I immediately smiled at the sight of the older goalkeeper. He hugged me as a greeting and took place beside me. He won't leave my side for the rest of the evening of that I was sure. He was the only one I've seen for the last two days except for the interns and Cris.

The keeper visited me every evening in my office before I headed home, to ask how I was and if I needed his help in something. It was very courteous but I knew all too well that the Spaniard just wanted to keep an eye on me.
