My last year of high school and life still sucks. The thought of never seeing this school again would've made me happy, but everything was taken away from me and my brother. Thank god I turn 18 so he'll stay in my custody. It's been the two of us ever since. "Yo Vonte how was your summer nigga," said Tommy. He's this dark ass nigga from my church, and his real name is Thomas but we call him Tommy for short. Even though there's a one letter difference, ain't nothing short about it but he's good people.

"Nigga you seen me like every Sunday! I don't know why you bugging like you didn't."

"My bad my nigga, I'm sorry, I'm kinda excited and shit. You know we back in school and this our last year and all."

"Yeah I know Tommy, but you know why I'm sad, so I'm just not in an exciting type of mood my jhit."

"Yeah I'm sorry for your lost my man. If you need anything you know I'm here for you" we sat there in silence for a few seconds until Tommy realized we needed to change the subject. As he was about to say something this pretty young thing came slidin out the front office with her books in her hands. She wore a button-up Polo shirt and a pair of mom jeans that fit her body well. She had her hair in a top knot bun, with loose strands of hair and gold hoop earrings in her ears. Hella lip gloss on her lips, which made them look extra juicy, and some Rick and Morty vans on.

"Aye yo! I see you checkin out my cousin. She living down here now, but since she from a whole different state and shit she has to go to school with us. Aye Tori, come over here and meet my friend."

"Hey, what's up my name is Lavonte but my friends call me Vonte for short, but what's up."

"Hey, my names Tori, and that's pretty much what everyone calls me." She made the cutest giggle I've ever heard. "And Tommy told me about what's going on with you. I'm sorry for your lost. Also, if you need anything I'm here for you too." She flashed this vibrant ass smile, showing off a cute little gap between her front teeth. I couldn't help but to smile back.

"Well thank you for everything you guys, but I should be fine for now I'm good. I'm just finna go to class."

I left them standing in the front lobby to find the rest of my classes, but I couldn't help but look back at Tori. Damn, she was so fine as hell and I saw her eyeing me back. I guess she saw something she liked. I don't know, guess I'll have to get her number later.

I walk into my first-period class, and I see my friend Sierra. She's a light-skinned girl who has way too much time on her hands. I know she's a really close friend and all, but she's like the only light-skinned girl who has a nice body shape and butt. Also, she had these greyish-blue eyes that mesmerized any dude that came her way.
"Yo Sierra, what's up?"

"Vonte? What're you doing here? I thought because of what happened you weren't gonna come back to school?"

"Nah I'm not going to let that stop me from finishing. I'm dead ass almost done with this shit."
"See that's why I've always liked you." I couldn't help but smile. I mean after all this time we grew as friends, my heart still feels for her.
"Yeah, well can I sit at the desk next to you. I mean unless it's taken. I cou-"
"Nah go ahead no one sitting right there."
"Ight cool, thanks Sierra." As time flew by I hadn't realized that the bell for second period rang and that class was boring as fuck. Then came the third, and forth, and fifth. Finally lunch comes around. I've been thinking about shawty a lot since I left first period. Finally, the time has come so I can make my move, plus all my friends had the same lunch including Tommy's cousin. So if my luck holds up, I can get her number and maybe some good food.
"Yo Vonte!" I heard Tommy yell across the room standing in line.
"Yo, what's up? Where's everyone else?"
"They inside"
"What? We not sitting outside no more?"
"Nah, them white people got all the tables."
"So , we've been sitting outside all 3 years. I'm not finna sit inside for no one tell the rest of them to come on."
Next thing you know I walked up to an empty space at an outside table and the two white girls whispered something to each other. I looked them dead in their faces with such intesity that finally choose to get up and go away. See, it's just that damn easy.
"Vonte man you didn't have to do this for us."
"Y'all my homies and we got traditions we have to keep until graduation."
"You're right" said Sierra.
"Yeah," said my friend De. Now De is short for Deqrauis and he's from the same side of town as me and Tommy. Only thing is that he lives closer to the hood so he always talking about that life because his older brother got locked up for grand theft.
"Yo, what's up De?"
"Nothing nigga, you find the people who did you know what?"
"Nah not yet. I'm not trying to think about that shit at this moment."
"Ooooooh I gotcha."
"So, anyway ..." said Tori as she looks at me,
"Hhhhm" De and Sierra said together.
"Oh! De and Sierra this is my cousin Tori, Tori this is the crew."
"Hey, sup" said Sierra and De
"How is your first day at Polar Whyte going so far Tori?" I said
"It's ok, I'm still upset because I'm not even supposed to be here but I guess it's not all that bad." She stepped closer and her stare got intense. I saw her eyes were looking at my hand and she pulled it closer to get a better look at the damage on my knuckles. Not wanting to answer any of her questions about my injury, I moved my hand away from her grasp quick."
"Well, that's great to hear. I'm glad you kinda getting used to it though."
Everybody else is talking and shit while we sat in this comfortable silence, she reaches into her back pocket and pulls out her phone.

"Not to be weird or anything, but I like your energy. You mind if I get your number?"

"Nah, not at all. Here you go. Hit me up whenever and I'll be here for you."
"Ooooooh shit!" De, Sierra, and Tommy yelled.
"What? "
"You just that smooth huh?" Said De
"Nah I'm just being nice"
"Yeah ok," said Sierra, she tried hiding her jealousy but I saw her roll her eyes. As Tori and I were about to finish our conversation the bell rang to signal that was the end of our lunch.

"Well, it seems like time flew by! It was nice meeting you all and it was nice seeing you again Lavonte." As Tori started to walk away I say De and Sierra follow behind her. I was gonna soon follow, but Tommy pulled me aside.
"You better be nice jhit. She not from here and she has a beautiful ass heart. I know it doesn't seem like it, but she's been through way more than you can imagine."
A few minutes after the last bell I got a text from a 703 number.
"Hey, so I know your friends with my cousin and all, but I would really like to get to know you a little bit more. Preferably some, one on one, time lmaoo. Let's hang out soon."
