JoeyRosaleen huffed and stomped out of my room. I ran after her realizing I needed something from her.
When I grabbed her hand she looked like she had softened but I only did it to get her back in my room so she could tell me how to crack the code.
"I- uh. Meet me in my office," I let go of her hand and retrieved the note to bring it back into the office.
She crossed her arms, " nope."
"I didn't even as-"
"No," she said not letting me finish my sentence.
"If you don't do this i-"
"You'll what? Give me back to your father," she reminded me for the second time today the shitty thing I did.
"No," I breathed looking down.
She looked at me with squinted eyes then looked back at the paper and used the tip of her middle finger to slide it towards her.
"I used the middle finger on purpose by the way," Rosaleen said grabbing the paper and examining the almost impossible code.
Of course she did...
"What do u want the code for.."
"Do you not know the fued between our fathers," I crossed my arms and clenched my jaw remembering why they fought.
Rosaleen
I gulped noticing Joey build a little anger inside his body which showed him tense up in the outside.
"No. My parents left me alone when I was young and didn't tell me anything."
"You know, your father killed," he choked up the word, " my sister."
My mouth slightly dropped since I had no idea. It didn't sound like my dad to just do that. He always had a reason to do the things he did.
"Your agency leader, your dad, had a mission to kill someone from our side who secretly stole without us knowing. He ended up killing the wrong girl," he slammed the table.
That doesn't add up when his father is the one in fear of being killed from my parents. If he knew he did nothing wrong wouldn't he just mourn over his daughters death..?
"I thought-"
"Your parents lied. They left you for bait clearly since I have you in my grasp," he sat in his chair and covered his eyes with his elbow rested on the desk.
"I'm sorry," I started rubbing the paper, " about your sister but-"
His attention went back to me.
"But this doesn't make sense. Why would your dad be afraid to be killed by my family when he did 'nothing's wrong."
He shrugged, " he told me something about him killing someone in your family after they left you."
I thought hard about my decision of what i should do about the code after hearing that then grabbed a pen.
"Ok. Ill help with the code," his eyes lifted, " only if I get to speak with my parents if this does lead to them."
Joey nodded after thinking about it.
His phone buzzed and his eyes shot to it. The phone was upside down so reading it wasn't easy but it was from his dad.
Joey
My dad texted me about Rosaleen escaping and asked for my help to seek her.
"Uh I have to go. You stay in the office and figure out the code..Ill be back by sunrise," I started to put my jacket on then walked out the house and into my car.
When I arrived at the place my dad was he looked angry.
"All my men are down," he said, " That little bitch has to be close."
He looked down at my white shirt that was covered in spots of blood, " Clean it up Joseph!"
I looked down at my shirt and realIzed I hadn't changed from when I killed the guys, " Its wine."
"I know blood when I see it now c'mon...we have to go to the agency before your mother finds out I'm gone from home when she gets back from her vacation." He motioned towards his car so I got in mine.
I followed him and parked when we got there.
When I got out he still had the same pissed off look, " Did u bring your badge."
I shook my head and he scoffed, " ok come in with me." He scanned his badge and the doors opened then security guards had a silent gun pointed at me.
"Well you guys must be new here, " I rolled my eyes with my hands up.
"He's with me you idiots," he told the guard and they lowered there guns and went back into position.
"Now back to business. Rosaleen seemed to think you guys had a thing," we stepped into the elevator.
"I guess she did," I coughed.
"Knowing you, you gained her trust and put a tracking device in her being the smart son you are," he patted my shoulder.
Shit.
"I didn't actually," I lied.
"You're a bad liar Joseph."
